Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Santa Cruz?
The best time to go to Santa Cruz, Ancash Region, Peru is during the dry season, which runs from May to September.

This period offers the most stable weather, with clear skies and less chance of rain, making it ideal for trekking and exploring the stunning mountain landscapes. Days are generally sunny and temperatures are pleasant, though nights can be quite cool, especially at higher altitudes. This is crucial for activities like the Santa Cruz Trek, which is the main draw for many visitors.

For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, travelling during these months ensures the best trail conditions. The paths are less muddy, rivers are easier to cross, and the panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca are unobstructed by clouds. You'll find that facilities and services suiting trekkers are fully operational during this peak season.

While October and April can also be good, they are shoulder months and might experience more unpredictable weather.
