We paid a very high price compared to other accommodation in Santa Cruz but as it was advertised "5 stars" we took the leap.
Overall it was a good experience, the room was well maintained & we felt safe (important in Santa Cruz) though still not convinced about overall value for money.
We came across some odd quirks:
1) The doormen refused to allow us to walk through the main gate (even if it was open), insisting we walk through the pedestrian gate, which meant going out of our way for no reason at all.
2) On initial arrival to the hotel we were told we could swim 24/7 in the pool, but be aware that after 11 no staff are around. Well we tried swimming after 11pm only to have a manager come and tell us to get out.
3) The door locking system for the rooms is very complicated - one of the hardest to figure out, especially later at night when one wants to slip back into their room. I would suggest they upgrade to an electronic swipe system as soon as possible to avoid further grief to their clients.
4) The breakfast was pretty good, enjoyed the pancakes & syrup. For some reason all of the bread was hard / didn't taste fresh and we couldn't get the toaster to work.
