    This large sunny house is a premier location for a Santa Cruz getaway. Located on a quiet residential street in an exclusive neighborhood, it is just five hundred feet to Sunny Cove beach, known by locals for boogie boarding and skimboarding. The Monterey Peninsula and its twinkling lights are visible across the bay from the family room and spacious deck. The house is within walking distance to Starbucks, a local brewery, restaurants, a fantastic farmer's market and the harbor, and easy biking distance to the Boardwalk or Capitola. Golf, wine tasting, yoga, rock climbing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and sailing are available nearby.

    Not only does our house have location, location, location, there is plenty of room with nearly 5,000 square feet of living space. There are two rooms with queen beds (one with an ocean view), a king bed, extra sleeping space, and a very large room that sleeps 8 children in bunk beds. There is an upstairs family room with a fireplace and ocean view, and another family room downstairs with a fireplace and a huge TV. There is also a game room with a pool table and an additional huge TV.

    We have beach chairs, boogie boards, and a selection of wetsuits for your use during your stay.

    The backyard has a large sport court surface with a basketball court/pickleball court. Balconies from the bedrooms allow for great views of sunsets.

Perfect location

This property is perfect for multi-generational visitors. Everyone has his own space. The beds and bedding are exceptionally nice. The location is close to morning coffee and afternoon beach time. We hope to come back for a 3rd visit!

Unique property. So fun and such great options between the beach, game room and pickle ball. Bright, sunny spaces and lots of ways for a group to spread out. Restful neighborhood with plenty of walkable coffee and food.

Fabulous Home for Family Reunion

The Sunny Cove beach house is an amazing property close to the ocean and fully equipped with all you will need for a fun getaway. Our host was responsive and helpful. Our family of 13 adults and one child played pickle ball, enjoyed the beach, and cooked/grilled huge meals in the spacious kitchen. We highly recommend this property for family gatherings.

Such a great house for a group!

This was our second visit to this property. We love the location and the home. This home holds a group so well. We had a day of very bad weather but had plenty to do inside with pool and games and a great kitchen for cooking. We love working with the Shaws and we love their beach house!

Roderick beach trip

The house was very well equipped. Amber has done a great job! Our family loved playing pickle ball! It was great to not have to purchase beach chairs or any boards thank you for letting us use them. We will definitely stay here again!!

Absolutely Perfect House!Over the years we have stayed at dozens of VRBO homes, and this house is certainly among the top three. Extremely clean, great beds and linens, kitchen is very well stocked, and there are activities galore for the kids (and adults). The bedroom/bathroom layout offers lots of privacy and there are quiet areas that are perfect for reading (or a nap). The location is great. Short block to the beach but traffic drops off to almost zero after dark so it is quiet. Everything you need is within a ten-minute drive. And to top things off, the manager is super easy to work with and exceptionally nice. Highly recommend this property.

Annual Family Trip

We had an amazing, great time in Amber's beautiful home! The space was perfect for our family. There were 12 of total, 8 adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of rooms and spaces for all of us to spread out, but still all hang out, play games and be together. We loved the pickleball court. We had a great Easter egg hunt for the kids. Walked to the beach and farmers market. We do this every year with our family and we all agreed this had been one of the best.

Fabulous Place for Family and/or Friends

This house was the perfect place for my family and relatives - the location is great, walking distance to the water/beach, kitchen is well stocked with baking/cooking utensils/pans/gadgets, the deck is a great area to bbq and have dinner or just hang out, there are plenty of places to lounge - inside and out. The bunk room is perfect for teens/kids. The pickle ball court is an added bonus, we used the court everyday. This place is perfect! Do not hesitate to book this house. And the owners are great with getting back to you on any questions before and after you book. We will definitely be back!

Thanksgiving 2023

We have stayed in this home twice now and it really works well for our large family Thanksgiving gatherings. Love the game room!! The kids practically lived there. Basketball and pickle ball was great!! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook minus the food of course. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. Quick little walk to the beach and restaurants. We would recommend anyone to stay here. Plus you get your steps in with all the stairs!!

family celebration

We were14 persons: 10 adult, 1 teenager and 3 children, three generatons. It felt like the home was built for us. We had enough bedrooms and baths with sufficient privacy, and wonderful shared space for dining togehter, gathering in the family rooms or on the deck. Pool, pingong, pickleball and 2 large screen TVs were icing on the cake. The towels, wet suits, sand toys, and beach chairs, made if perfect for going to the two neighboring beahes. The kitchen has many and perfect supplies. We had absolutely no issies and no surprises but the commniication from Amber was responsive and timely. looking forward to returning Amber, Thank You

Shaw Beach House

Even after moving out of state, The Shaw Beach House remains our family's favorite vacation spot. Every visit we've had here has been an absolute blast, and we always leave already planning for our next trip back. One of the things we love most about this house is how well it accommodates everyone in our family, from the youngest to the oldest. No matter your age, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. And with all the recent updates to the house, we were blown away by how much thought and care the hosts put into making this already-great home even better. The pickle ball court was a particular highlight for us - we had so much fun playing together as a family! And with all the amenities and thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, we always feel so comfortable and at home here. We truly cannot wait to come back for our next family vacation!

helped make a fantastic 75th jubilee

this great multilevel property was a perfect place where our family held a 75th birthday celebration. in addition to lots of stairs the house came with lots of kitchen amenities that kept most of "our traveling baking bag" packed up (about the only thing missing was a rolling pin :) and entertainment goodies (especially the pool table and pickleball court) and plenty of room for us all to get together and also to split up into smaller groups. in addition to maintaining a great property, the owner was very responsive throughout and after, even helping return one of our grands' favourite pillow that was left behind. a+++ all the way. our family continues to take about it and there are already discussions about a return, [std disclaimer: nobody paid us, we paid them and are satisfied customers.]

Great family beach house in Santa Cruz

My wife and I rented this beautiful house for our annual summer vacay with our two daughters, their husbands, and our six grandchildren (ages 2-8), and the house was everything we wanted. Plenty of beds and bedrooms, a well-stocked kitchen with two dishwashers (there are also two clothes washers and dryers in the laundry room, which came in handy for our group), a large wraparound deck, a spacious living room, a separate downstairs den with TV where the kids could be together but still be within earshot of the adults, a short walk to a very nice beach (albeit with some steep, uneven stairs from the roadway to navigate - no problem for most folks but potentially an obstacle for anyone with a stroller, wheelchair, walker, cane, etc.). The 2 outdoor showers came in handy for de-sanding the kids when we came back from the beach, and the house came with surfboards, boogie boards, wetsuits in various sizes, and beach chairs. We had a great stay and did not experience any issues at all.

This big family home had everything we needed for our family wedding week. Beautifully stocked kitchen, massive laundry room, three refrigerators, two dishwashers and sleeping areas for days on end! Games, books, puzzles and a sport court to keep the group busy and just a short walk to a lovely beach. We highly recommend this wonderful place!
