Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights and we loved every moment of it. The cottage itself was simple, so don't expect too much. The place is a bit isolated right by the beach, which in our case was preferable since it was very relaxing and quiet. It had an intimate atmosphere with the location, the staff, and the few other guests. The food at the restaurant was really good and affordable filipino food. We want to thank the helpful staff that went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and feel at home, especially Randy and the boat captain Matoy!
Honestly, don't miss this chance for a simple romantic getaway. We would definitely come back in the future.
Very cute bahay kubo/bungalow with incredible view of the beach. It's a perfect place to relax and destress. I don't mind that the electricity is only 6 hours a day (3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night). I still had a good night sleep. The cottage is clean and well-maintained. The bathroom is also clean and complete with shampoo, soap, toilet paper, etc. The service is exceptional. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They arranged my van transport from Puerto Princesa Airport to Port Barton and back (500 pesos each way, to be paid directly to the driver). They have complementary boat ride from Port Barton to the resort and back, which is nice. Everything was perfect. I'll definitely return.
This is a wonderful place to base yourself for a few days. The staff are helpful, they helped me to find a lost bag in transit. There are some waterfalls you can walk to via a safe jungle track. The tour and the boat guys were first class, they also made us the most wonderful lunch on the beach. The electricity is limited to a few hours in the morning and evening and, like most of Palawan, the Wifi does not work so not great if you need to be on the radar but perfect if you don’t!
Absolutely amazing hospitality. The location is perfect is you want to some peace and quiet. We really enjoyed the food and if you end up staying at Sunset Colors you a boat trip is a must. The manager (Randy) and his team really looked after us, we will be back for sure!
Parfait !
We booked a cottage for two nights, and upon arrival there was an unfortunate confusion in our reservation alas the check in took very long and we ended up wasting an afternoon waiting for our cottage from late check out that wasn’t informed to us beforehand.
The resort is quite small and located a 20 min boat ride from the main beach, with a poor road connection so that by moto it will take you about an hour to drive to the center of Port Barton. The cottages are lovely and clean, with a direct view and porch opening to the beach, but the beach itself is very shallow and rocky. The overall feeling at the resort is quite isolated, with two small restaraunts you can choose from.
Sadly, compared to all our previous accommodations the altogether atmosphere and friendliness of the staff was very much below the average. Also we were slightly disappointed to find out the trouble required to get to the lively main beach (in a very broad sense - the atmosphere was very laidback, most bars close by 10pm, not as touristy as El Nido) and restaraunts located in Port Barton centre.
I have felt cheated, they lie a lot in the description of the hotel and neither Booking nor Hotels.com do anything to fix it .. despite the references of the clients themselves, be careful not to read the reviews you will go somewhere thinking thing and you will find another!
Call days before arriving to discover thanks to the reviews of other guests that the hotel can only be reached by sea, and they deceived me saying that there was a road, the same day before arriving I called again since I could not see the road in Google Maps, and then they told me that there was one but that it was only suitable for off-road vehicles, as you will see in the photos to this place you can only arrive by sea or with a mountain bike, on the way there is everything: rivers, mud, oxen stones of water and it takes more than 30 minutes to get to this Hotel from Por Barton.
I detail other things that are not worth staying for here:
1- It is 5 or 6 times more expensive than a hotel with the same characteristics in Port Barton, there the hotels have light, internet, air conditioning and things to do and see in the surroundings.
2- It has no beach, disappears in the morning and reappears in the afternoon. Attached photos
3- There is nothing to do except read, you are stuck in the Hotel
4- It is a hotel that does not have electricity, only 3 hours a day
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Colors. We were only to stay for 4 days, but extended it to a week because we just enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the relaxed atmosphere at the hotel so much we did not want to leave. We had a family room and stayed above the restaurant.
During the days we went snorkeling and one day we went to the nearby waterfall. Otherwise we read books and played cards, in other words we just chilled.
The food in the restaurant is good and prices low.
Electricity is on a few hours in the evening and wifi also. This was absolutely not a problem for us, rather a positive experience.
The kids (11 and 13) want to return to Sunset Colors on our next vacation that is how much they liked it.
We went to El Nido before Port Barton and for us who enjoy nature and peace and quiet, Port Barton is so much better. We do not feel like returning to El Nido ever again.
Sunset colors is an incredible place in the middle of paradise!! Luiz and the staff do an outstanding job making you feel special and the food was AMAZING!! Hope to return for another visit one day!

Lovely little family run place nestled in the coconut palms. Very quiet and relaxed.
Great food and service, definitely recommended.
Personnels adorables!
Luis is your guy! One of the most welcoming host we have ever met.
Note that this place is nice and quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of El Nido. It is also apart from the main port barton center. I find it is a place to get away and relax for a bit.
nice for a relaxing break but be aware you have to get a boat back to port barton beach and they only run at certain times (last one is 5:30pm) else you have to charter your own boat for 1200 each way!! we were going to book a boat trip with the hotel for 800 pesos which only included two stops but in town it was 700 for 5 stops. no brainer. stay was average, staff very friendly though.
Gorgeous native style rooms in a pristine location. We stayed in the upstairs family room which had a great view (and our drinks were brought up to us!) Meals were delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are fantastic - friendly, professional and helpful. Their island hopping tour was amazing.
We only stayed 3 days, but it is really a great experience. It was so lucky for us to meet you all at Sunset Colors. Thanks for taking take of us during this time period. We had great time while having island-hopping tour and paddling.
We'd like to give our special thanks to Manager, Captain and Motorman again.
