The Hotel Zenit Convento looks nice on the surface, with newly renovated rooms and a very pretty bar. However everything else is severely lacking.
The rooms had floating floorboards that creak so loudly it woke my husband up every time I got up. Several amenities you’d expect in a 4 star hotel were missing, like tissues and water.
The breakfast service was total chaos. No one came around to ask if you would like to order something like eggs, and people had to try to flag one of the frenetic staff down to order. A couple people near us never got their order, and others were never able to place an order. The coffee machine was broken 2 out of the 3 days we stayed, and tables weren’t bussed leaving a mess everywhere. The buffet was lacking basics like fresh fruit (other than a bowl of kiwi every day).
The worst was the front desk and bar staff. No one ever smiled or asked how our stay was, and when we checked out the person at the desk just said “you owe 90 euros” without offering to give us the invoice.
The bartenders and other staff would stand around talking to each other and ignore customers. We mentioned the poor breakfast service on our first day to the manager and he was very apologetic and nice. The next day they seemed to be trying harder in the restaurant, but during our entire stay we never felt welcome by any of the staff.
I would never stay at this hotel again.
