I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Santurce, even with the drama! There was SOOOO much drama!! And I mean between staff and guests. There was a lot of things that went missing… but in the end it was not only worth the experience, but I will be returning. I don’t mind the drama… it was quite entertaining!! However, the building needs work. The air conditioner in the female dorm leaked horribly and there was a plug right beneath that was sparking. One suggestion, Americans are not used to 1” pipes for their toilets and drains… a note on the wall to let them know that toilet paper clogs the toilet is really useful. If you’re a guest… don’t flush your paper!!! The drains in PR are small and cannot handle the load… 😂 The location is PERFECT!! Quick walk to the FREE bus stop and in 5 minutes you are at the perfect spot to soak in the ocean! All the staff are SOOO friendly (I moved to PR so I am staying buddies with most) and super fun to chat with. There is even a convenient little hopping bar right across the street. This is a great place for a cheap spot to explore San Juan! Bus to know… 5 gets you to Old San Juan. 3 will take you all along the main road and 5 the opposite direction from Old San Juan will take you straight to the airport. Have fun my friends, and definitely try the Don Q Rum!!

Decent room for a good price, but other lodgers were partying loudly until at least 3 am. If the hostel has quiet hours they’re not enforced! Local roosters starting crowing about 5 am, so unless you’re a very sound sleeper bring noise canceling headphones. Area is active but kind of sketchy - good for partying if that’s your jam. Very friendly resident cats and convenient kitchen facilities.

I’ve been working remote for 5 years now and have traveled the world blogging and documenting my experiences. This space is great if you’re on a really tight budget and need last minute help with finding a bed to sleep in. You will get a hot shower, a cozy bed and plenty of super cool roommates to talk to. This place is right across from a cute little bar where you can play pool if you like. I’ve stayed here many times when plans fell through at the last minute and I was in a bind. The staff members treated me well and were very helpful, nice and accommodating. I really appreciated that they washed my laundry too. I’m grateful.

Casa Santurce.

This stay was great, and affordable. I took a solo trip to Puerto Rico, and I met many great people. The condition of the room is not ideal, and there are some bugs present. Overall in a good area.

Get what you pay for

You get what you pay for mostly, bathroom was way too cramped, the shower was just a pipe, and the beds didn't have blankets. But the beds were comfy and the water seemed clean which was a plus. Location is also nice, in the center so in walking distance of beaches, convention centers, mall, and Old San Juan. Overall not too bad for the price

Ok back packers hostel. I’ve staid at much nicer for $10 a night. Beds were ok shower was a little dirty. Sheets were clean floors were clean. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Personally I’d try another hostel next time but nothing to complain about.

I might say you get what you pay for. Normally I stay at Nomada Beach hostel, but since I was on a shoestring I went the budget route with Casa Santurce. It was a low key place but the bunk rooms are cramped, and their is no kitchen. For a few dollars more at Nomada you get a pool, a nice kitchen, much better showers, and many different sitting areas. I'd suggest that Casa Santurce make this more cooking friendly, and also provide a few more places to sit.

One night stay here

Room had A/C bed and private bathroom. There was water leaking in the bathroom was my biggest complaint. Views were nice from the roof and was close to everything. It was nice being able to interact with people from all over and I felt safe. It’s not a hotel but was better than my previous hostel. There’s a bar right across the street. Limited parking can get busy but wasn’t too bad. Bathroom was small and wasn’t the best but better than nothing. You want a better experience book a hotel but price could’ve been less. I’d say worth like $30-$45

Quiet, comfortable bed, that's it.

I stayed in a private bedroom. I didn't receive the self check in email. Luckily, someone who worked there was hanging out and could help me after hours, as I arrived after midnight. The room is extremely basic, but the bed was comfortable. There was electricity when I checked in. There was A/C. There was Wi-Fi. No electricity, and no water whatsoever on the property nor neighboring properties due to an electrical outage in the neighborhood when I checked out. I did get a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.
