Scoping out the transportation options in San Francisco can help keep you on budget. The most convenient airport is 4.6 mi (7.4 km) from the centre in San José (SYQ-Tobías Bolaños Intl.). However, if that doesn't suit your budget, you can look into flights to San José (SJO-Juan Santamaría Intl.), which is 9.8 mi (15.7 km) away. San Francisco may not have many public transport options to choose from so a car rental could be a reasonable alternative to see the area.
