The accommodation is basic but clean and in a great central location in Rotorua. At the time I was staying there, there did not seem to be many guests, so it was also very calm.

Its uniqueness to us was it is just 5 minutes away from The start line of the Rotorua Marathon. Our meal on the evening was fantastic. My steak. Compliments to the chef was perfect. 10 out of 10. As was my daught n laws lamb shank. Her favourite just fell off the bone. Great service. Lovely comfortable room. All in all a fabulous place to stay. Definetly recomend to our friends. Cheers. It was clean, beds were soft and comfortable, shower was a little on the down side, as you had to play with the tap to make the water flow.

It was extremely central to all shops, bars restaurants, the building seems very tired. We had a disabled double room which meant we had a wet room style shower - v good. Bedding-sheets very white and clean , but the quilt was full of stains and looked very old -did not use. The room very dated. Not sure how price compares to other accommodation so maybe it’s cheap to stay

The hotel was close to the lakeside where we were to attend the outdoor concert the day we'd booked for an overnight stay so it was very handy and very affordable...the room was very warm and inviting the beds were comfortable and the shower was bliss to hop under after spending a night out in the cold.

I just love the convenience of when your hungry can walk down to the club restaurant and have a kai have a few drinks at the bar if you want. The location of in the middle of town. how clean, safe access in and out of the upstairs to our rooms. all the necessities you need for a night or two. This is our go to place when staying in Rotas

This place was very well located and everyone was very nice. We didn't know that a "Citizens Club" is like a VFW in the US, so it was a funny surprise being the only under 55 at the bar/restaurant area. The free parking and wifi were solid. The room had every basic you'd need, I think the only thing was not having aircon was a little warmer in summer, but they did supply a fan which was nice.

We checked in and were delighted with the welcome and the show around. We were told of all the things available with our room and where to park and shown the entry and swipe and keys explained. We went our for a walk around Rotorua and enjoyed the closeness of everything we needed. Autumn colours out and looking very pretty. Nice and clean where we walked. Headed back to our room and had a rest and decided to have an early shower. Alas no towels. Went to the office at 8.30 and no staff around so no towels. It was the only thing we could fault. So my suggestion is check for towels before you head out. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rotorua and your club. Thank you

A bizarre experience

Another guest and I arrived at the same time to a sign on the locked door giving us a phone number to call. Several minutes later someone drove up to let us in. The beds had clean sheets. There was a kettle and coffee packets. There were used towels hanging in the closet, an old beer in the nonworking refrigerator, thick dust on the fan. I was told to use the men's bathroom which had part of the ceiling falling down and streaks of water damage. Its ok, she said, there's no one else here. Truly, the other guest and I were the only humans in the building. No staff, no security, no front desk, not one employee in the building, and no telephone in the room. This place shouldn't even be allowed to offer rooms to the public.

Cheap for a reason

The rooms are above a social club that caters for the older generation. The club had snooker tables, restaurant and a bar. The karaoke night was a blast. The club is located close the centre of town and the main attractions. The check in was down by Tina who appeared to look after the check in and run the bar. She was friendly and helpful. The room and shower room were not clean. Above head height there was dust and the shower room extractor vent was in need of a deep clean.

Real liked that everything was clean and tidy the staff went the xtra mile with everything that they could do for us would have liked a microwave in the room cos although we ate all our meals except for breakfast the doggy bags we ended up with after our meals and took up to our rooms were eaten cold for breakfast as there was no oven or microwave iwe feel that having a microwave in the rooms would not take away the use of the dining room meals as they are good value for money and serve the most excellent meals there and their variety of meals on their menus was huge and reasonably priced not too mention the service from the chef and his assistants which was absolutely brilliant will continue going to and staying there when we are in Rotorua best place,ever
