"We arrived at the castle about 2350 after having rental car problems at the airport. The castle was very cold and the instructions to turn the heat on did not work. Someone came the next day to turn the heat on. My sofa bed was not made up even though we were clearly 3 people and needed three beds. The mattresses were very lumpy and the linens smelled stale because they were in a chest. When I told the host about this her response was: "Sometimes situations don't work out the way we want them to!" followed by an apology. I have a house that I rent out too and I make every effort to make travelers comfortable. We were so tired when we arrived and she did not prepare for our arrival."
