Location was excellent. 1/2 block up from main road with all restaurants, etc. Road is a dirt road which can be muddy. As anywhere in the area you did have to keep an eye on your surroundings with some of the people around.

Very noisy... both inside and outside uncomfortable Parking and when people don't like the place they don't want to give you your money back... Terrible place, no peace, you can hear everything through the walls! It is not a family, peaceful place!

Close to everything but relaxed and quiet!

Just back from a WONDERFUL 8 day stay at the Mariposa! The room was very clean and had everything we could have needed! Kitchen is well stocked, bathroom very clean and nice water pressure. A small living area separately to watch tv or visit. Air Conditioning kept us comfy but the breeze goes thru the room nicely also. Cable TV was just installed so my hubby didn't miss his Playoff games. Wifi worked well except on the porch. Nice little porch with table and chairs and a great hammock for relaxing. Sue arranged a taxi from the airport that brought us right in and then another to return us to the airport. Sue and Michael were so friendly and accommodating and were great with helping us get acclimated since it was our first but definitely not our last visit to Roatan. I'm surprised to hear it's only rated 2.5!

So many to name. Room was broken into with keys. Money was removed from the safe with keys. I used a chair to prop against the knob until the locks were changed. The owners refuse to reimburse any missing funds. They never once cleaned the room. Air conditioner was sketchy. Shower was either not or cold. No way to adjust the temp. The pool, like 10 x 10. Others on the property lost money in the same manner as well. Never go agian

Was the worst experiences of my life of travel. Cleaned room one time in seven days. Missing money in safe, toilet leaked, seat falling off, and didnt fill back up. Ac worked half the time. Shower had no presure.

Completely walkable to everything. Yet, the property is a short walk from the main road so it is quiet and private. Pool is small, but a little deeper than most so you can swim and play in it easily. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees surround the property.

It was a little bit different, but my staying there was very comfortable. The hotel was very near to the beach, diving shops, bars and restaurants. I was very happy with my staying at Mariposa Lodge.

Fantastic week in West End

Great spot located right in town, steps from the main street and dive shops. Handy and quaint apartment that allowed us to make small meals at home. Clean bath with hot water. Nice shared balcony for lounging on hammock or eating outside. Sue and Mike are great hosts and provide basics plus lots of great tips in the area. For the price you cant go wrong! You can book a stay and dive package with West End Divers - a GREAT dive shop! We travel alot and really enjoyed our week in West End. For the unexperienced traveller - this in NOT a beach resort kind of place.

Good size studio apartment in a classic bungalow style, close but not too close (quiet) to West End Village so no need for a car. Friendly staff does a great job. Excellent value and I would definitely stay here again.

A great place to stay

We stayed 2 weeks in West End, and this is I think the nicest place on the island. There is a lively but non-commercial feel to West End which does not occur in other places there. Plenty of places to eat, and just a stroll to Half-Moon Bay with a lovely sand beach and very good snorkelling. There are many dive shops charging reasonable rates. It is one of the few places in Roatan where you can access a public beach easily. Unfortunately the island has allowed private moneyed development around most of the shoreline, almost totally limiting walk-in access. For snorkelling the reef, you pretty much need to take a boat.

Very well situated, clean, rustic like I like them.Tipically wooden house.It had the necessary, kitchen, fridge, hot water, fans, spacious.A beautifull veranda.A few minutes from diving shopes, water taxi, local bars and restaurants.I would certainly go back.Relax Owners are a lovely couple, friendly and very willing to provide local information.
