GOOD TO KNOW
Please bring sturdy shoes or hiking boots. There are stairs into the cabin and natural terrain throughout the property. Accessing the dock requires walking down a graded slope to the dock stairs.
There are two fire pit areas. One is level and located behind the cabin near a picnic table. The lakeside fire pit has beautiful views but sits on a slightly rocky slope.
Insect repellent is recommended. This is a cabin in the woods on a lake.

This was a trip for a baseball tournament so we didn't get to take advantage of the property to it's full extent but it was a lovely stay. Amazing communication with the hosts who were very accommodating. This was also one of the best stocked and family friendly places we have rented!
Cabin was very comfortable and location was great! A few little snags, but the hosts were very responsive and took care of the problems. Overall we had a great time!
Clean, comfy and very accommodating. We had a large group, 7 kids and 6 adults. Never felt cramped or cluttered. Great property and we highly recommend!
The cabin was very comfortable and clean. Plenty of room for the 9 of us. Kitchen was stocked with just about everything. Kids absolutely loved the dock and fishing. We would definitely rent again next vacation.
We had a wonderful stay at this little cabin! We enjoyed exploring the property in addition to our time spent on the lake. It had everything we needed and accommodated our group of 7 (plus 2 dogs) well. The kayaks and lily pad were a big bonus. It was a great way to slow down and reconnect with nature after the last few months spent at the ball fields!
Stayed in the cabin with 4 adults and 4 kids plus a dog. The cabin was wonderful. Clean, accommodating and furnished with everything you could need. The wifi works well. The dock and the lake are so amazing. The dock is large enough to allow the adults to sit while watching the children enjoy the Lilly pad and kayaks. We hiked in the woods and explored the creek. The location was remote and very relaxing. Would highly recommend!
This cabin paired with the location was perfect. The hosts have thought of everything when it comes to things needed inside the house. It also has its own private dock at the end of a cove that can’t be matched. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with an updated place to stay, this is it. The hosts are responsive and are willing to take care of their guests anyway they can. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals at both Tablerock and Beaver, but this one has been by far the best.
Enjoyed the stay over all. Well furnished and well stocked with cooking items. The boat house at end of quiet cove was great for watching wildlife - deer, bald eagles, white pelicans, Canadian geese and of course jumping bass 😁. The only issue we had with the property was lack of task lighting (bedside lamps) and the lack of back deck to enjoy a morning of watching wildlife while drinking our morning coffee.
There are a lot of pros to the "Make A Mistake" cabin, including location (gorgeous and remote), ease of check-in, ease of communication with host when isues arrise (they respond relatively quickly), privacy, kitchen suplies, and outdoor ammenities. This is the perfect rustic bunkhouse situation for a large family or chosen-family gathering if you are looking to be off the beaten path.
Cons: The water heater didn't keep up with the needs of the 4 adults in the cabin-- 4 showers per day, one load of dishes. There was no hot water when I tried to bathe or rinse off my baby. We ran out of toilet tissue on day 2 and had to run 40 mins to town to get some as there was a delay in the host's supply delivery (to their credit, the host is not responsible for the delivery delay). We also had a wasp infestation in the main bedroom. We counted at least 8 wasps in the corner of the room, which were dicovered when they stung our 15 month old daughter while she was napping. When we contacted the host about our concerns, they asked if we saw a nest and claimed no one else had mentioned wasp problems. This was the only situation where the host was not helpful at all. We understand things happen, especially in cabins, yes/and if things happen while you visit it's best to keep expectations in check. Be prepared to be self-sufficient.
We had a fantastic time staying at this cabin. The location is remote and private, the fishing was great right off the dock, plenty of room for parking. I will say the loft is a bit tricky to get up to and the showers are not the greatest (hard to find the hot water position).
We had a great time at this cabin. We found it to be extremely relaxing and just what we needed before our crazy back to school/sports schedule. We did a lot of fishing off the dock, cruising around the calm waters in the canoe, camp fires and just chilling. The location is remote and not close to many restaurants/shopping locations however we didn't mind that at all. We came prepared with all our food that we needed. Overall great place to relax and just get away.
Overall it was very accommodating for my group. Think it needs sprayed for hornets we nocked some nests down cause I think they are getting into the house. We did have a great time and understand we are in nature.
Great place to stay that is absolutely private and peaceful. The hosts are great communicators and helped out right away with a technical glitch upon our arrival. We absolutely had a great time and enjoyed the use of the lake toys. The kids loved the swim mat! I would definitely recommend for wonderful lake getaway.
This is a great property. It had everything we were looking for - nice, clean, and with great amenities.
We hiked the creek and spent time on the dock swimming and using the kayak. The secluded location was good for us, so the kids could be in the water without worrying about boater traffic. We only saw a couple jetskis and boats across the lake from us so the kids could be out in the kayak.
We will definitely book it the next time we are in Lake of the Ozarks!
Nice secluded part of the lake. The boating dock is a lot of fun for families in the more shallow water. Its quiet and peaceful with occasional atv on land. Great place to observe wildlife and kayak doen the river and lake. Cabin is small as expected but it had everything we needed for great meals and to bake. The wifi was good to watch movies and plsy some video games. Overall it was a good fathers day get away.
Our stay at "Make a Mistake Cabin" was no mistake. It was perfect. Driving through the winding roads and arriving at a quiet cove of Lake of the Ozarks, we arrived at the nicely-appointed, stocked, and well-kept cabin. Each day we awoke to see wildlife outside either side of the cabin, walked down the path to the large covered dock, watching fish jump all over the cove. In the 10 days there we caught over 70 fish, including several that were 2-5 pounds...bass, bluegill, crappie, drum, and catfish. Our boys kayaked and explored both creeks (to the near left and far left of the dock) for days. Our hosts communicated well and timely with us. The only issue we ran into was a microwave that stopped working, which the hosts replaced the very same day by delivery. We also tried local places to eat around Roach, Camdenton, and Osage Beach. No "mistake" about it... staying there was exactly what we needed. We made a lot of wonderful memories there...and would highly recommend to all.
My wife and 3 children ranging from 5, 7, and 10 had a blast over the weekend. Even tho we had to set up camp in the rain we were able to make a good time out of it. We enjoyed camping, fishing, bonfires, exploring, catching lizards, being and to just being away from normal busy life and spenting it with each other over a fire cooked meal. I'd highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for the real deal camping experience and not the run of the mill "campsites". It reminded me of being out in the wilderness but also feeling like we were back home at our pervious lake house.. we loved it! Thank you guys again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Quiet street, with awesome access to ocean beaches and snorkeling! Great sunsets and views of both Mona Kea and Mona Laura. Well stocked with beach and snorkel accessories. Can’t wait to come back and stay here again.
Property as described and pictured. Located in a peaceful cove. Kayaks and paddleboard a plus.
Property clean and had all the utensils, linens, etc we needed. Very reasonable drive “to town” for the Lake of the Ozark area.
