A great hotel in the middle of Rennes. The hotel itself is wonderful—rooms are great, and so is the hotel restaurant. It is very conveniently located, close to restaurants and about a 12 min walk from the main train station.

Very nice hotel. Very friendly staff, close to everything and excellent condition. The only thing I would suggest if that they better inform the guest arriving by car, that the hotel entrance( and car drop off) is in a street that is forbidden for not authorized cars … but according to them, if you are staying in the hotel you are allowed to be in that street

This is a very nice boutique hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe room looking onto the courtyard, which was very quiet. The room was very stylish with a great bathroom. The only flaw was that the shower door leaked due to the fact that it was designed with no seal on the door. There is a very nice spa which is well equipped. We both enjoyed very effective foot massages to relieve the pressures of too much sightseeing.

Great hotel in Rennes. Clean, well-appointed, and modern rooms. Very central location near restaurants and shops, and Rennes is a very walkable city. Staff were professional and knowledgeable. Restaurant offered good breakfast spread, but didn’t have chance to have lunch or dinner there. Tiny gym, which was too small to be practical. Spa was nice additional, although it tended to get crowded at times. Overall, I think this is the top hotel in Rennes.

Beautiful hotel in a terrific location -- walkable to train station and Old City. Lovely bar and lobby area to relax in and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The products in the bathrooms were also lovely and I appreciated the eco-friendly steps of providing shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc and avoiding small, single us plastics. Lovely, thoughtful design and excellent sound proofing. We never heard our neighbors. Only comment is that they need to clean the rugs. Gym also decent for a french hotel, but my favorite work out was a run along the river -- there's an outstanding path for a long walk / run that is close to the hotel. Staff were very helpful in making dinner reservations and in general, extremely pleasant. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Excellent choice

This is a nice hotel, with excellent restaurant, service, AC, WIFI, ambiance, general comfort and location, the only negative things that in my could be better would be English news Channel like CNN, parking facilities without an overprice, better fitness room (larger and with a TV) and a bit more light in the rooms. We specially loved the service, always excellent, the excellent location, the delicious shower and more than anything else, the outstanding restaurant.

A Gem in Rennes - the Balthazar Hotel & Spa

Our first time in Rennes, and after a bit too much road time, we wanted a nice place to unwind that was also centrally located, for our few days available to explore Rennes. When booking on Hotels.com, the Balthazar appeared to be that place... and we were not disappointed! From the moment we walked thru the door, we could see and feel the elegance / class of the hotel, and of its staff. Beautiful and comfortable lobby, bar, patio... elegant dining room, relaxing spa, and well-appointed, spacious, and comfortable rooms. The hotel is a short cab ride from the train station, and walking distance to center city, restaurants, a truly wonderful park, and the Saturday morning market.

Hotel was great and staff were good but they charged 100 euros per person for the two nights as a deposit (ie 400 euros PLUS the cost of the room as a deposit) nearly £700 as a charge before we paid when we left. They would not accept Amex to pay the deposit (even though we had paid using Amex via Hotels.com) and when we left we paid for the room on Amex and were told it takes 3 effin days for the bank to re credit the drposit money to our account!!! Luckily we had the money on deposit but would have been embarrassing if we hadn’t

Jewel!!!

This hotel was an unexpected jewel. By far the best hotel in Rennes! The service is outstanding. Alexandre and Marike made us feel very taken care of. The amenities are above and beyond what we expected. From coffee to bottles of water and madeleines every night in the room. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The bar and appetizers are super. Try the hibiscus Gin and tonic. You will thank me for the advice! The spa is welcoming, quiet and a great place to finish the day. We liked this hotel so much that we cancelled a reservation in Saint Malo to go back and spend one more night at Balthazar!
