The location is great and the house was as described and pictured. Everyone enjoyed the game room, fire pit and kayaking. Hosts were super quick to respond with any questions. We would definitely stay again!
Walkable to Main Street restaurants, ice cream and shops. Quiet neighborhood. Comfortable house. Enjoyed our stay completely. Will be back. Thank you for hosting.
This vacation house was perfect for our family. We loved the location. We enjoyed kayaking every day and fishing. It was nice sitting down by the water around the fire pit, after a long day. The game room was an added bonus. We can’t wait to come back again sometime.
My husband and infant twins enjoyed a relaxing stay in Reedville- the house is clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. The view is great and we enjoyed the kayaks. We enjoyed local seafood for dinner and a drive to kilmarnock. Hope to come back soon!
We were booked to go to OBX, but the snowstorm changed that...so plan B! Plan B was a fantastic choice...great place to chill out, drink wine, dance and relax by the bonfire! Hosts were very quick to respond to emails, the beds were comfy and the kitchen stocked! I'd love to come back (I live in Oregon) and bring my grandsons here this Summer!
We stayed at this waterfront property for Thanksgiving. The house was clean, cozy, and welcoming, and we enjoyed a peaceful retreat away from the city. Karaoke was a hit with our kids ages 13-25! The owners are responsive and helpful, and we appreciated their dog friendly accommodation. Highly recommended, and we will return!
Loved this spacious house! Very clean and beautiful views!! Rained almost the entire time we were there but we managed to make the best of it! Game room was great for the kids and the yard was perfect for the dogs! A little buggy since it was so wet outside, but beautiful! We hope to visit again!!
The home was exactly as described. Just pack a bag and everything else is there. Fully equipped property in a quiet location. The only thing I will add is the master bed was smaller than desired, otherwise everything was perfect! We would love to return at another time when the temps are warmer.
Enjoyed our visit to Reedville, however it becomes a ghost town after Sunday night till Thursday morning. Hardly any local establishment are open during that time. Kids enjoyed the gameroom and kayaks. The host is very responsive!!
Beautiful house bringing nostalgia with modern amenities; love the books, game room, showers, large kitchen, luxurious beds, colors and patterns in the interior. Gorgeous hydrangeas and magnolias and birds abundant. Dock was perfect, hopped in kayak and paddled several times a day. Easy! Fished and crabbed, even took Tangier Island cruise for boating bike riding and lunch. Really had everything! Hard to leave!
My party of five went to Reedville to take the tangier Island day trip, and we LOVED this blue crab hideaway! For an older building it was superbly kept up, immaculately decorated and had EVERYTHING you could possibly want for a stay.
The hosts are so generous to provide not only all kitchen/cooking essentials, but multiple kayaks/canoes and paddleboat for use, lifejackets, fishing poles, and (though we brought our own) even shower supplies and laundry soap, etc which I feel is above and beyond.
I will say not a lot of restaurant and entertainment options in the area (open during the week) but a full kitchen and expansive game room sure goes a way to make up for it. 10/10 would stay there again ir recommend if going to Reedville.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. It was quiet and relaxing. The house was very clean with more than adequate amenities. You will find everything you need in the kitchen (coffeemaker with supplies, toaster oven, microwave, spices, washer and dryer). The beds were comfortable. The game room was a plus, along with the many books. E didn’t have a chance to use the fire pit, but firewood was even provided.
I’m looking forward to returning with my grandchildren in warmer weather so they can enjoy the kayaks, paddleboat, crabbing and swimming.
I would definitely recommend a stay at the Blue Crab Hideaway. We will be back!
Our family had an amazing stay at this wonderful house right on the water! The hosts/owners were very welcoming and responsive at all times. The views were absolutely wonderful and the house had everything you need and more! There are unlimited sources of entertainment inside and out! We were able to get out on the water and enjoy the views during the day, and enjoy plenty of games at night. The firepit by the water is a great place to relax and the grill under the carport with an oversized picnic table was perfect for outdoor dining! The crab pots were a great addition to our fishing adventures as well! Excellent service, beautiful views, and fun for the whole family! Thank you again for sharing your amazing home with us!
This is a cute property with a lot to offer. The downstairs is loaded with things to do, like ping pong, air hockey, foosball and a game area. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for your stay. We cooked 4 meals throughout the week and we had what we needed to do that. A nice touch is the grill and picnic table area under a car port. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboat that was there for our use. The kids worked hard to catch blue crabs. They managed to get 3 or 4, but they were small ones. But they had fun trying. The area is very quiet and peaceful. And the dock was nice to sit and read and enjoy the sunsets and relax. I recommend this property for a nice getaway with family or friends.
Our first time on the Northern Neck My only real complaint is beyond the homeowners' control but warrants a mention: There are days when the air stinks. Reedville is home to Omega Protein, a huge fish processor. When the wind blows the wrong way, and the plant is operating, the air is nearly unbearable, especially combined with heat and humidity. For us this was three days out of the week. Wasn't a problem on the weekend.
Other than that, it was great. Property is pretty. Lots of birds, kayaking and swimming were great. We saw no jellyfish. House is comfortable and well-equipped. Only a few minor issues: master shower leaks onto the floor, air hockey table doesn't really work, and if there was a salt shaker in the house I couldn't find it.
My family and I overall enjoyed our stay at this nice secluded waterfront property in Reedville. Things we really liked about the property was the private dock, big yard, and firepit area. The view at sunset from the dock was awesome! The property also included several kayaks and a paddle boat which we rode and enjoyed doing the most while staying there. Check-in and access to the house was very easy. The host was very communicative and provided detailed check-in information. The house itself was very spacious for my family of four and dog. We enjoyed the game room in the basement. One minor personal inconvenience we had though were the beds. Everyone in my family sleeps on firm mattresses but all the beds were either too soft or had foam mattresses that made us sink in to the beds. Another small issue was the slippery soft water from the faucet and shower which I could not get used to. I couldn't tell if I washed off all the soap on my body after taking a shower because the water felt so slippery like soap. Other than these two minor issues, this was a great property to rent if you are looking for a nice private, quiet, and relaxing family getaway!
