Clean and quaint place to stay

Quaint house with just enough for family to be comfy during their stay. Kids loved the individual fireplaces to heat up the basement where they camped out.

Decent VRBO Near Great Area

Pretty nice refurbished home at the end of West Blvd near the really nice downtown area of Rapid City. Walking distance to nice shops and restaurants. A few amenities that are generally standard for VRBOs were missing but after discussion with the host (wonderfully caring and responsive host) we were assured those amenities would be included in the future. It is near a busier street and you can hear the traffic and occasional train, but that’s the tradeoff for the location near downtown.

Would not stay here again

Noisy location though centrally located Car engines and traffic outside kept us awake all night. Overall clean. Upstairs bedroom door is clear glass and doesn’t offer privacy. Downstairs was freezing and upstairs was roasting. . Downstairs is the only bath/shower Bunk bed was small.

Beautiful Older Home

My mother, twins and I stayed here after having another reservation fall through. The house was great! Spacious, everyone had their own space and were able to relax. We have stayed in hotels before and they were so noisy and impersonal! This space had great lighting, an updated kitchen and the bathrooms were gorgeous with lots of clean towels! It’s summertime and that means bugs and spiders but that was to be expected! We did day trips to Custer National Park, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Bear World and Hot Springs to see the mammoth bones! The parking was out front and the yard was a little overgrown but it had been raining for a week before we got there. We brought a dog with us and they were just fine with that and the deposit wasn’t outrageous. The WiFi was on the bottom of the modem and the TVs worked great but we spent a lot of time outside or playing card games. My kids are older so they just wanted a WiFi connection, food and a comfy place to sleep. The bedrooms were super clean and cozy! The washer and dryer were a blessing to have and worked great for a smaller set. The only thing I wished we had was a vacuum and some more blankets. I dealt with Shannon and she was always very quick to respond to my questions. As for noise, it was the occasional street noise that comes with staying downtown but nothing excessive. The shops are super close and we had fun exploring where everything was. The homes on our block and the blocks surrounding were beautifully restored and had amazing character. This house is over 80 years old but was redone very well. I would stay here again! It’s a newer listing and I think the yard will improve with time. All in all, we had a blast in SD!

Nice home, but won’t stay again

We stayed 5 days w/3kids. We contacted the host right away since there were no knives for cooking, she said she’d deliver them. The dining seating was very wobbly & broke instantly. We contacted her&she said she’d be by to deliver the knives and repair the table, neither happened. The next day we contacted her again about the knives. She never responded, later that evening we went outside & found knives on the step, she never messaged us. The table was never repaired. We messaged her to get the Wi-Fi info, she never responded, we never got that info. The windows were filthy & many didn’t lock which was concerning as during our visit we had multiple homeless outside, digging through the trash by the front door, camping out in the yard, disputes out front resulting in having to call the cops. One evening some homeless were puking in the window wells. We were not familiar with the area so didn’t realize it wasn’t a good part of town. You can’t see dinosaur park from the front yard, & that’s not actually a park you’d think kids could play at across the street (that’s how I interpreted it) it’s a 1.5 mile drive up into the hills. Definitely not something assessable from the property. Things we wished we had: mirrors as there’s only a tiny one in the house in the bathrooms, extra toilet paper, paper towels, and blankets; a fan, sturdier kitchen utensils, & a vacuum for light cleanings. It would be helpful for the host to leave instructions with wifi info and instructions prior to check out, and a high chair. Something not mentioned in the listing, there is a washer/dryer on the property, but note that it’s the smallest washer/dryer ever so it only washes a few items at a time, which we were super grateful for but took many loads to do a normal size load. The bathroom with a shower is downstairs, none upstairs. The bunk beds were great for the kids, the cleanliness of the house was good, & the front porch was convenient for coolers and shoes. Its walking distance to downtown; because of the transients we didn’t walk anywhere. The train nearby is loud and the roads are super busy. We asked to check in early but was told the cleaning crew would be in there til 4 but would expedite cleaning & we can check in at 2 for $25 extra. In which we declined. Overall, this house was a good fit for what we needed but after staying here we wouldn’t stay again as the host stopped all communication with us after getting settled and the area is really sketchy.

Downtown House in Rapid City

The house is near downtown with all of the restaurants, bars and site seeing. It is in a safe area of town. We loved the lay out of the house and the location was so close to everything we want to do.

Home away from home

This house was located in a great part of Rapid City. The girls enjoyed their first-ever bunk bed experience. We appreciated having Roku tvs to escape the SD heat! There is even a crockpot so you can cook dinner while you explore all the sites.
