This cute little cabin is nestled in the Black Hills, in a great location! It had everything we needed (except maybe area rugs because we visited in February, and the tile floors were COLD)! We loved that we could stay in or head out for adventures outside or in a town just a short, windy-roaded drive away Would recommend and would love to visit again with our family this summer!
Very cute and clean small cabin that was plenty of room for 2 adults sleeping in separate beds. It could easily accommodate 2 adults and 4 kids or some combo. My adult son used the loft and I used the bed on the main floor. Bathroom was surprisingly large and very clean. Kitchen had everything you need and a nice touch were 6 farm fresh eggs in the fridge left for us. Our only disappointment was the fact the road was under construction and the drive to Pactola lake was about 40 minutes on detour rather than 5. We didnt know about this and 2 days were planned at that lake so not nearly as convenient currently. The goats and rabbits were adorable and i think kids would love this place. We did not have any campfires due to weather being iffy. Close to everything especially once road construction is done. We had to leave a day early due to water in my son's basement at home and the owner was very generous in refunding us the day without us even asking. Very kind. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend these cute clean cabins.
Perfect location PeacefulGreat host/hostessLoved the animal visits while at the cabinKids loved chasing/catching the bunniesCabin was small and cozyCan't wait to make another trip west river to stay here again
We stayed for a few nights with our kids and had a great time! The cabins are close to the area attractions which was great. Our kids loved seeing the animals walking around the property, and they enjoyed playing out by the fire pit area when the weather was nice. We enjoyed sitting out front in the evenings taking in the view as well. The cabin had everything we needed. We would stay there again!
The cabin was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Al and Sarah were wonderful hosts... very welcoming, attentive, and kind. Our son loved being able to walk outside and play with the cats and goats...
The evening campfire and s’mores were a great way to relax and meet other families/kids. Campfire cabins is centrally located, close to all things including Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park etc. We hope to return to Campfire cabins in the future.
Without a doubt, definitely better than spending any time in a hotel. Always leary about booking anything online but this cabin exceeded all our expectations. Save a lot of money by not going out to restaurants just buying whatever you need for a meal. It came with all the amenities you need for cooking. Plus free eggs from their free range chickens on site. They sure set the bar high for accommodations on our two weeks travel out west!
We enjoyed our stay. The owners are nice, the cabins are newer and in great shape. Its super kid friendly and the all the farm animal visitors were fun. It was as described. If you plan to see all of the Black Hills (north and south) this is a great location.
Only preference differences. We prefer a more stiff bed. Our bed was softer than we are used to sleeping on. A recliner/chair inside would be nice, but space is tight and table / stools are probably better for most. Note: these are our preferences and feedback for the owners...not complaints about the cabins. That is why I gave it a 5 star rating.
What a fantastic find. We go to the Black Hills fairly often for a get away and this is the best small cabin we've found. It was INCREDIBLY clean (the top thing we care about). We actually thought it was brand new and we were surprised to learn it was a few years old. It was also well appointed with anything you might need for your stay. Everything about the property is very well maintained. And the best part? Sarah and Albert, the owners. Their house/homestead is right on the property and they raise free range chickens, ducks, rabbits, cows, goats, and more. They were more than generous to show us around and explain how they make almost all of their own food and live off the land. Their goats and chickens were regular visitors to our cabin which we found really fun. They let us help bottle feed some new calves and we learned so much about food production. We are already talking about if we can squeeze in another weekend this summer. Without a doubt we will stay here again!
We had a blast. The kitchen and bathroom were so smartly put together and easy to use. The size of the space was small, but completely roomie enough. It was clean and fresh. We loved access to petting the goats and cows and cats. We enjoyed the chickens, ducks, rabbits and turkeys especially the fresh eggs which is such a luxury. My favorite part was the group bonfire at night to meet and chat about our days with other folx staying on property. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.
