Reid Ridge Lodge

Reid Ridge Lodge

8/10 Good
"The room was great, a mostly well-renovated older hotel with a rustic wood theme now. Toilet could have used an update, and sink needed a snake - drained very slowly. But our only real complaint was the service at the front counter when we arrived about 5:30pm. There was no-one at the front counter at first, just a sign saying to call 2 phone #s. So we called both before he walked out from the office, a bell might have been faster. This man took a long time trying to find our reservation, and then told us we had no reservation! Then I explained I'd called a few days earlier to confirm and was told (rudely) that if I had an Expedia confirmation # we had a room and he didn't have to look it up. Standing in the lobby I offered to read him the confirmation #... he looked on his computer again and amazingly found our reservations. No apology, no explanation, just 'cash or charge' next. Nice quiet night in the room, good a/c, and nice and clean. We didn't take advantage of the lobby breakfast in the morning (not having too much confidence in it), then the lady at the counter taking our key cards in the morning was very nice."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Raccoon Ridge?
The best time to visit Raccoon Ridge is during the autumn months, specifically from late September through November, when the foliage is at its peak.

During this period, the weather is pleasantly cool and crisp, superb for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the scenic trails. The vibrant display of red, orange, and gold leaves across the mountainsides is a major draw for visitors. This time of year also sees fewer crowds than the peak summer season, offering a more relaxed experience.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find autumn particularly appealing. The cooler evenings are ideal for cosy nights by the fireplace, and the stunning natural beauty provides a picturesque backdrop for scenic drives and leisurely strolls. Many local establishments offer seasonal menus featuring comforting, hearty dishes superb for the cooler weather.

For families, late spring to early summer (May to June) is also a good option. The weather is warm enough for swimming and other water activities, and the days are longer for exploring.
