A home away from home
This rental is perfect for anyone who wants to feel immersed in what Kauai has to offer: tropical forests, the songs of birds, and the best climate in the world! And chickens and roosters, of course ;) The outdoor shower is amazing, and the house, beds, furniture are all comfortable. In the mornings you can have a cup of coffee on the lanai in the shade of the trees. A rooster will most likely come by and say hello; if you see a black rooster with a funny buzz cut, we named him Roger - the kids still miss him. Do consider putting the chairs and table away at night though, as he seems to consider these his own personal nighttime perch. There are several small beaches nearby; Hideaway Beach was my personal favorite (you do need to be able to climb down a small cliff to reach it, however, but if you are able to, it is very much worth it!). This beach, and a few others, are walking distance from this property. The walk by the golf course is lovely as well. The closest beach, as far as we could tell, is straight down Plantation road, just past the food truck. There are others only a short drive away. Hanalei is so lovely in the summer, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii. It was the closest thing to paradise I have ever seen. If I had enough money, I would buy a house there. I would even buy something in the exact replica of this rental; it was just perfect. Mahalo.

Island Hopping
We stayed during the summer and the immediate area at this location was quiet. Within walking distance of Queen's Bath and Hideaway Beach, this was a very nice place to stay with a family of 5. Updated furnishings with a full kitchen. It worked great as we cooked in for 1-2 meals each day.

Perfect getaway
This place was amazing very clean updated with modern style with views of the jungle and mountains with waterfalls conveniently located near grocery store and restaurants. Kitchen was fully stocked with cookware for the nights we didn't go out with a washer and dryer. We took full advantage of the scuba gear biggie boards and beach towels. Owners gave us some local tips and checked in with us after check in and answered any questions we had. I highly recommend this rental for family vacation or just traveling friends. We would definitely stay here again!

Roomy house at a reasonable price
The house was comfortable. The grocery store was very close and right outside from the street, you get great views of the mountains and hanalei valley. The two rooms facing the street are very noisy in the morning from passing cars. Made it hard to sleep in. House was as clean as a hotel room would be, but not as clean as i expected for someone's home. The toilets seemed smaller than usual. The outside shower is not private. Though technically out of view of others, it is open without any curtain or door blocking the entrance. It definetly did not have adequate hot water for one full shower. It was not convenient at all to walk to the "nearby" beach and while accessible, its not easy to find. We found hanalei bay to be more inviting and nicer to swim at. Glad we had a car to drive there. It's strange that there's no microwave at all. Its understandable that the owners don't use a microwave themselves but if you're going to rent your place to others, it should have a microwave for their convenience. Even simple motels have microwaves. It was nice to have laundry, but a little strange that there was no detergent. Not even a small bag of soap for one load. And, its kind of weird to ask your guests to take the recyclables to the center themselves. It may be closeby, but why not arrange for housekeeping to take it as part of their service? That seems like a reasonable expectation.

I’m sorry about your disappointments we try our hardest to accommodate our guests so they have a beautiful stay.? Our home is located in the quietest area in princeville so if you were to have stayed in the middle of princeville it is much noisier. The quiet is what I appreciate the most in our area. I can assure you that our toilets are standard size and no different from any other toilets. The outdoor shower is facing the jungle we do have a bamboo wall on each side for privacy the rest faces a jungle. It is a strong rain shower, so if you put it on full blast, the hot water won’t last as long but you don’t have to put it on full blast. It’s very strong. The walk to the beach is directly straight down from my house no left or right so I’m not sure I understand why it is difficult to get to the beach , path goes gradually down and and it is the most amazingly beautiful walk. Our beach is shared with the most beautiful hotel which is called hotel one. Another reason why we are conveniently located is because we are so close to Hanalei Bay five minute drive and also close to many other beaches on the north, shore you have many choices ,just pick your favorite . I did send you a message if you had any questions feel free to ask we normally leave laundry detergent, so if it wasn’t there and the cleaning service, forgot to leave it, you could’ve called me I would’ve easily sent you Laundry detergent starters. We leave shampoo, conditioner, soap, and laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, starter garbage bags for all our guest we have a dumpster right outside for garbage. All of Princeville asks their guest to send the recycling to the recycle center which is right down the road you can wait till the end. I leave garbage pail there for you to fill it up. I’m sorry you felt this way about our home. I wish you would’ve reached out to me. We do not like to disappoint our guests. If you sit in the hotel, one right down the road from us you would’ve paid $1300 a night. We are in the same location.

This VRBO was everything we needed and more starting with ease of communication with Ofie before and during our stay. The rental was immaculate; clean and stocked with ample towels and basic supplies. The bed linens were of the highest quality. It was newly renovated. Location was very private, parking and access easy, quick drive to points of interest and shopping. This rental is a gem.

Great vacation house
Very nice house overall. Very good to house 6 of us. Nice room size and beds. I highly recommend this house. Here are some minor suggestions that would make this house from grade A to A+: - There are 4 regular-size chairs at the dinning table. The other 2 are semi-high chairs. Would be great if there are 2 more regular-size chairs. - 1 shower is an issue for 6 of us. There is enough room in 1/F bathroom to install a stand-up shower. - Front porch light is sometimes on and sometimes off. I suspect it is motion detected? - The road to nearby recommended beach is private. I met a resident living on the private property and she kindly asked us not to take the private road. She also said that because it is private, the beach is not well maintained and she wouldn't recommend going. - In general, I don't recommend walking to nearby beaches. Driving is more convenient. - No AC may be an issue in summer. - There is a very good breakfast food truck (Saenz Ohana Breakfast) near entrance to the road. Highly recommended. - Foodland supermarket is close-by and convenient. But price is expensive, which maybe true in general for Kauai. - Kitchen is awesome. Kichenwares are plentiful. But please please add a microwave. It is not expensive at all and will highly facilitate renters. - A small rice cooker would be a big plus. - It is very interesting to see roosters and cats in the balcony. - When we open the windows in the dining room, some very small flying insects are able to pass through the screens. Probably need screens with smaller holes.

The beach is one of the nicest and it is completely maintained it’s adjoins to the the new One Hotel which was the old st. Regis. It’s sounds to me like you took the wrong path which is the one to left and is private property. I wish that you would have called be because you missed out on the best part of your stay by not going to that beach. My guests have been walking to that beach since of owned the house now foe 8 year and if you read the reviews of my guest they will tell you how wonderful that beach is. I also send explicit directions to my guests on how to get to it. Also there is a wonderful private rain shower with hot water outside , which is where My family prefer to shower outside in nature. Thank you for your recommendation we dont use a microwave but I will definitely will consider them since a lot of guests do like to use them . I do wish that we could have better communication this way you enjoyed your vacation even more. I also do tell my guests to call me if they have any issues at all with anything.

Nice property
We enjoyed this property and how responsive the owner was. We didn't have any issues, but he made himself available. The decor was nice and Hawaiian-styled and very clean and comfortable. The only challenge we had with 6 adults was finding time to shower since there is only one indoor shower. We did occasionally use the outdoor shower, but a 2nd indoor shower would be nice.

Great location for visiting the north shore
We had a great time staying here and visiting with family who live in the area. It was a very quiet yet very convenient location. Close to Foodland and close to Hanalei. There is an outdoor shower which was a huge help when returning from the beach. The house had all the amenities that we could need with the exception of a microwave and a rice cooker. The house was clean, though there were a few cobwebs in the dining room light fixture that we cleaned away. Overall it was very nice and clean though, and for the location you can’t beat the price. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location, spacious and situated near some of the most beautiful views on the island
This place is in a perfect location! Very close to shopping in both Hanalei and Princeville. The property is spacious and has a little back porch that overlooks the jungle. There is one and a half bathrooms inside and an outdoor shower that is semi-private (it has three solid sides and the fourth side is open but faces the jungle, although there is another townhouse next to you on one of the walled sides of the shower). I could not find a grill on the property including near any of the other townhouses but we didn’t need it because the kitchen was very well equipped with even a spice cabinet and some other essential cooking basics such as nonstick spray and a few condiments in the frig. If you are staying more than 4-5 days, you will need to buy or bring TP, laundry detergent, and dishwasher tabs and possibly trash bags. Shampoo and body wash are very nice quality and are provided. We absolutely loved the hike to Pu’u Poa beach which takes about 20-25 min to get to and the sights you see on the way are breathtaking!! The beds were extremely comfortable and bedrooms were a nice size. We only missed the lack of air conditioning during the day but the 4 fans in addition to the ceiling fans and opening the windows really helped us sleep at night and it cooled off significantly at night. The living room furniture was comfortable and very nice and suited our family of five very well. The price we paid per night was a great value for a three bedroom townhouse. It is quiet except for the roosters crowing but they are all over Kauai. The WiFi is a bit slow but manageable. The house is beautifully decorated and we enjoyed our two week stay immensely! We looked forward to seeing the views just outside our doorstep every morning. The house is truly located on the most beautiful part of the island!! Ofie was a great host and responded very quickly to any questions we had.

My husband and 5 month old son stayed with our in-laws for 5 days at this property. Fantastic location not far from anything you could need or want. The beach nearby is absolutely worth the walk down. Night is peaceful aside from the occasional rooster that cover the entire island. Plenty to do in town just a few short minutes away. Would reccomend and we hope to stay again someday!

Quaint rental home
We booked the rental for 9 days during Christmas of 2021. We've never stayed in Kauai, let alone the islands around the holidays. The home was as pictured, although it could have used a little more elbow grease in cleaning (especially the cobwebs in the light fixtures). The house was equipped with pretty much everything you'll need for your stay, but I was quite surprised it was missing a microwave oven and almost all of the water activity gear that should have been by the outdoor shower (and AC, in case you're thinking of booking during warmer months). I also wish it had window treatments in the master bedroom for privacy. It is located minutes from a Foodland, which is nice for getting supplies and more importantly, Anini Beach (great snorkeling). Overall, it was a good place to stay with my family.

About the cleaning I will see to it that this gets attention so far this is the second guest in a row. I will see to it that this never happens again because we do have a good record for cleaning . It’s does say no microwave and also No a/c .. All the snorkel gear boogie boards , beach bag and beach mats are all in the closet. It was in all the information I sent you. I wish you would have asked me I would have told you. We have blinds in the bed room. I’m not sure what you mean because there are blinds. Also it is facing the jungle.

Not amazing, not terrible
This townhouse was hard to find at night and the first frustrating thing to deal with was the porch light that was on a sensor, but it only stayed on for a few seconds at a time, so not long enough to see to get the lock box and the door opened. The house has a dishwasher, but the owner didn't leave any soap for it, and when we asked for some they sent over three pods (there were 5 of us staying for 7 nights!). This wouldn't have been so bad had they provided us with ample kitchen towels so we could hand wash with the liquid soap they provided, but they only gave us two. There was a drying rack under the sink but it was disgusting. They also only left 5 bath towels which meat we had to do laundry every day of our stay which wouldn't have been so bad, except the washing machine was so loud on the regular cycle that the first time we ran it we thought construction had started in the complex - that and the owners request that we not leave on any fans or lights if we left the house because electricity is so expensive left us a little confused as to why they would not have left enough towels and dish washer pods to make full loads happen. Oh - and we wouldn't have been able to really fill the dishwasher anyway because of the lack of excess glassware and plates. We didn't even have enough plates and glasses to make breakfast and dinner happen in the same day (and my toddler had her own plastic plates and bowls from home!). The outdoor shower was disgusting - there were old mason jars of other peoples soap/shampoo that were moldy, and old, gross pair of shoes and it seemed to just be hooked up to the garden hose. The second picture you see while scrolling of the two wine glasses, wine bottle and river beach - it isn't part of this property. We never saw it and we looked. The two little out door chairs and table that is a part of the house was covered in chicken feces and one of the chairs was broken so we never used them(the owner was aware of the broken chair, the broken lamp shade and the broken closet door upstairs but hadn't bothered to have them fixed). My toddler dropped one of her pen caps under the couch and I wanted to pull it out for her but opted to leave it after looking under the couch and seeing how nasty it was - dead bugs and all. And then there was the bathroom - hair in the drain, someone else's soap, loofa, shampoo, and face wash sitting on the one ledge that was available to put stuff on.

Maybe all this is because why I asked you why you broke the lock to our personal closet and used all the extra towels. If you just asked me I would have gladly sent you more towels . Standerd is one bath towel per guest. We provide our guest with two starter dishwasher pods. If you had any compliant I would have been happy to work any problems out with you. Please whoever reads this just scroll to next reviews this is a very untruthful review. Our kitchen is fully packed more than most vrbo/Airbnb’s . We really care about our guest comfort. The two glasses of wine with the view clearly states that it is down the road and very easy to find I even give my guests instructions how to get there. This guest is clearly an unhappy person regardless of the best situations. It makes me very sad because we have an excellant cleaning team and they work very hard . We have been making guests very happy for the last five years .

Perfect location near Hanalai and Princeville, Kauai
I don't even know where to begin. This townhouse/condo is in such a magical location. Great floorplan for our family of 4. my husband LOVED the outdoor shower, in fact, he only showered outside :) and is already planning where we can build our own outdoor shower at home. haha. Condo was super clean and contained all necessary amenities. Fully stocked kitchen, including spices, staples of flour, sugar, good coffee, olive oil, and various condiments. We thought we would miss having A/C, but the condo really cooled down at night, there are ceiling fans, floor fans and the beach is only a short walk through a gorgeous field which overlooks the Hanalai Bay. You can watch the sunset here too. The master bedroom has a large walk in closet with plenty of room to unpack your clothes. The beds are super comfortable, there are extra pillows, blankets if you need them. The condo backs up to a tropical jungle which we found to be a perfectly private setting. Keep in mind, it is the North shore and has a wonderfully earthy scent as does the condo but just open the windows and turn on the fans - it will make a difference. The resident roosters and chickens/chicks are charming. Very safe, quiet, friendly, convenient location. We loved staying here. You will too. Mahalo.

Nice home
This is a nice home with good location. It was clean and spacious and the beach accessories were really nice to have so you don't have to bring them or rent them. We were a little disappointed that there is only 1 full bathroom inside of the house when we had 5 adults that needed to shower. One shower is located outside in the back - which is great for rinsing off sand and mud from being at the beach or hiking. With the roads being closed during certain times, you can't get to Hanalei at all times. We had to wait for up to 30 minutes to have access to or to/from Princeville to Hanalei. Otherwise it was great.

It does say one full bath and one half bath. That’s why we added the outside shower for our guest so they can have two showers Please read the listing correctly when you book. Why would you be disappointed it said it before you booked. I clearly put all the information on the house so my guests know before hand. Also the road closure has nothin g to do with my house you can still get to hanalei very easily .

Nicely remodeled and decorated townhouse. Clean. Good location. It felt a little small for 6 people (4 adults, 2 kids) with only 1 inside shower- there is a nice outside shower but with the rain and getting back late we didn’t use it much. Also to note, the rate listed is based on double occupancy. Extra guest fees are added after that. I didn’t feel this was clear in the listing. Overall, a great place for a smaller group.

Jennifer, Sorry you didn’t get the opportunity to use the wonderful out door shower. We always use it and never even shower inside. About the extra guest fee it is clearly stated that there is an extra guest fee. My guests have choice not to book . If you didn’t want to pay the extra guest fee simply don’t book. I like to give the opportunity for couples to book the house and not have to pay for the whole house . This is why I start with a base price. Each additional guest only pays 5 dollars per night.

A great property for our family while we were in North Shore; very artistic decor and clean place. Many beach amenities were provided for our use as well as cooking supplies and washer/dryer. Overall, very nice place if you are visiting north shore in Kauai. The only suggestion would be the getting rid of the musty smell (especially downstairs) and maybe considering adding a microwave to kitchen to help with quick meals.

Thank you for the review. It rains every night I kauai that’s what keeps it so lush and green a lot of my guest close the windows when it starts to rain and than forget to open them which bring the damp air and the musty smell. After it rains it’s a good idea to open the windows so the sun and cross breeze dry the damp air. When I’m there I leave the windows open and the fans going at all time it’s a wonderful cross breeze as downstairs is above ground so the breeze is beautiful. I’m glad you enjoyed you stay.

Place was great!
Quiet, comfortable home that was perfect for our vacation. The well stocked beach gear closet was a pleasant surprise. We used every piece. The outdoor shower helped us minimize the sand as well as transition us from outdoor energy to indoor comfort. The location was excellent! Would not hesitate to stay there again. We loved the roosters!

Spacious but uncomfortably warm
Loved the actual property. Very spacious and well-decorated. Owner communication was excellent. I regret that I didn’t search properties with air conditioning. We were miserably hot, and had difficulty sleeping at night.

Sorry this hot weather did not let up in August and September my cleaning service did let me know that there were no tradewinds at all for the last month and a half . I’ve been renting for three years now and these two months have been unusually hot. Normally our home stays very cool with the ceilings fans in all the room but there is nothing I can do about this strange weather we’ve had.

Lovely home in a great location
Ofie's townhome is in an ideal location for visiting the stunning North Shore. You can see mountains and waterfalls from the property, it's in a jungle environment with beautiful plants and birdsong (yes, roosters too, but we were prepared, they are everywhere on Kauai). It's a lovely updated home, comfortable, with many amenities that we enjoyed on our 10 night stay, like the washer/dryer, beach equipment, comfy beds, and the clear winner, the outdoor shower! The outdoor living space is small; our family mostly used the small deck to store our shoes and go back and forth between the shower outside and the house. It was very hot on the island during our stay--not much wind through the house so it did get warm inside, though a couple nights were noticeably cooler when we did have the breeze outside. Besides the ceiling fans in each room, there were 3 extra fans provided, which we moved around the house to cool ourselves down. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. You can walk to the nearest beach, but it's more of a "hike" in that you walk uphill on the way back, it's too long for small children and older folks and you'd not want to be hauling beach chairs, etc up the hill. (You can sometimes park down at the end of the road which makes the beach walk a LOT easier!) Great location for north shore beaches, Hanalei, Kalalau trail (make sure to reserve your spot for that visit), and the drive to visit the rest of the island for day trips is not a big deal. Overall we enjoyed staying at Ofie's house.

Beautiful property
This is a beautiful home. We had everything we needed and then some and arriving was very easy. The owner was kind enough to email us information on beaches to explore, which was great. Unfortunately, the unit was very hot and damp, even with fans, which made sleeping difficult and the desire to relax and enjoy the property impossible. The beach, which was described as a short walk, was a much longer walk than anticipated. Again, a beautiful home, lovely decorations, all the amenities we could need, just uncomfortably warm in the summer.

Sorry unfortunately you did get unusually hot and humid weather and there was no cross breeze for almost two weeks. This is very unusual for Kauai. Believe me if I thought the unit needed a/c I would get it but Kauai has gorgeous weather 90 percent of the time.

Exactly like the photos
This is a nice, clean townhome. The outdoor shower was a fun amenity - my husband and sons used it daily. We absolutely loved the town of Hanalei, so the location was great. The first couple of nights were rough, as it was quite hot during the day and took awhile for the upstairs to cool down. Since the roosters were generally up by 5am, the nights were pretty short! I would still recommend the property, and I would stay there again - just set expectations before arriving. (I knew there was no air conditioning when renting it, but had forgotten.) The house had everything we needed during the stay (beach towels, body boards, etc.). We didn't do any cooking there, but kitchen looked to be well stocked. Overall, a great house!
