About this property
Historic cabin-close to I-77, antiques/Wi fi, great bath, a visit 'back in time'
Located 5 minutes off I-77 & very close to Princeton, guests may enjoy the entire 100+ year-old historic homestead filled with glimpses of the past! The charming antique-filled rooms are perfect for and restricted to 2 people. Sip wine under the stars while sitting around the firepit, watch deer graze in the pastures, or just kick back & relax while reading the history of the cabin and farm! Peace, quiet, and tranquility await!
This historic cabin and farm has been featured in numerous print articles and 'Traveling West Virginia' TV segments.
4 miles from Brush Creek Holl'r Alpine Roller Coaster - Amazing! 14 miles to Pipestem Resort (zipline, horseback riding, aerial tram, great restaurants!) 14 miles to Winterplace Ski Resort Near great day park - Camp Creek State Forest, Pinnacle Rock State Park Haunted Lake Shawnee Amusement park 3 miles away Zipline at Pipestem Resort within minutes. Historic Districts nearby: Historic Hinton & Bramwell (homes of former coal barons) Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine & Coal Camp Visit America's newest NATIONAL PARK-New River Gorge National Park Whitewater rafting in the New River Gorge National River is exhilarating.
The cabin is situated on a 60 acre farm nestled in the valley. The Bluestone River runs around the boundaries of the farm. Beautiful mountain views provide a peaceful setting for both sunrise and sunset. The Greenbrier and New River, Bluestone Lake and Dam are close by. Floating down the Greenbrier River is breathtakingly beautiful, soothing, and kayaking on the Bluestone River is a great way to relax!
The main level of this historic cabin has a sunporch that allows viewing of deer as they graze in the pastures. There is a kitchen, dining room and comfortable living room with flat screen TV (Dish). 2 comfy recliners and fireplace. Queen bedroom and sitting area. The front door opens onto a porch with antique rocking chairs.. There is one bath with shower on the main level.
The area around this property offers extensive indoor and outdoor activities, all within a short drive.
Each room is appointed with beautiful antique quilts, old trunks, and pieces of furniture used on the farm. It is like a museum! Sip your morning coffee while watching the deer graze in the pastures.
If you are looking for pampered, modern conveniences this is not your place. If you want peace, quiet, tranquility amid old relics, antiques, and farm pastures you will enjoy this property. The homestead is much like it was during the time it was built (early 1900s). It is intended to give visitors and guests an idea of how living on the farm in the early years might have been, with a few updated amenities (tiled bath, Wi-Fi). Our guests tell us its like 'revisiting their childhood when ‘going to Grandma's house'.
Life on the farm remain pretty much the way the it was when grandma lived there in the early 1900's. Guests today have a few more modern conveniences including wifi, cable tv, and . . . a nice indoor bathroom, replacing the old outhouse that once stood on the farm.
Experience the freshness of the cool mountain filled with the sound of owls and crickets chirping softly in the stillness..
If a rain should be falling on the old tin roof, you're in for a special treat. There's nothing like listening to the soothing raindrops as you curl up with a good book or nap the entire afternoon.
The farm comes with a 4-legged security system named Diesel who watches over all who visit, barks upon your arrival, and waits for his biscuit treat!
Guests can go for a walk to the old barn, go fishing or kayaking in the river, watch deer graze in the pastures, or make conversation around the crackling firepit while roasting marshmallows and taking in the beauty of a clear, starlit night.
Time stands still at this old farm, rusted glimpses of days gone by, inviting guests to visit and remember when life was simpler. Paradise awaits!
Please note: Cabin is restricted to 2 guests, no smoking or vaping, no pets, and no extra guests allowed.
