Location right by the Royal Mile and bus stops to many parts of Edinburgh.Within walking distance to the New Town (Princes Street), Tron Kirk. Budget eating options close by Sainsburys, Piemaker, Subway and lower cost restaurants, Chinese etc.
Very friendly, informative, staff that will help you with directions and a free map.Search carefully for laundry options as the hotel doesn't have any and one close by was expensive. Ask for a room in the new block.I had rooms in both blocks that were both...

We had a brilliant stay at The Haymarket Hotel. The setup is quite unique, as the hotel is spread across several charming historic townhouses, which gives the place plenty of character.
The location is spot on... an easy walk to Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, and the Old Town, plus the tram and Haymarket station are just around the corner. Our room was spotless, surprisingly spacious, and very quiet. Thanks to the classic Scottish architecture, we had a lovely bay window with a seating area,...

Good value for money given the very central location and it was clean enough. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer because it was so noisy. We could hear everything from the street below all night long. Also a few security concerns given the key used to unlock the main shared door is the same key that opens the key to your bedroom. Theoretically anyone staying there has access to your room with their key.

Area is absolutely perfect for exploring Edinburgh! Grocery stores are at a walkable distance, the street feels safe and quiet, and all of the major tourist attractions are at a walkable distance. It was nice to be away from the city centre bustle, but close enough to be able to walk there when you wish. Convenient check in and checkout. Kitchens had everything you need and even some free stuff which was nice! Garden/patio area was very pretty and we enjoyed spending time out there :)

The staff were very friendly from check-in onwards, provided advice on local events, and were overall happy to assist with any enquiry. The beds were comfortable, there was a great communal room, and they even allowed you do to do some washing in the afternoon! Bars downstairs, a stone's throw from the Edinburgh train station, just a fantastic hostel overall.
