About this property
Riverfront Country Home near Paris, w/Wine-tasting, cycling, lifestyle
Staying in our Pouilly, river-front house is a wonderful experience, with families, friends, or for a romantic, cozy French wine-tasting, country experience. This riverfront, fully furnished and equipped house with a huge beautiful garden and decks is over 150 years old, originally built as a Tavern on the Loire river. Pouilly sur Loire is a lively town and 'vignoble' with wineries at a crossroads between central France and Burgundy. You'll thoroughly enjoy the comfort of this country home, the walkout gardens, the riverfront walks, and hundreds of kilometers for biking in the neighborhood or on the bike paths along the river natural reserves. Canoes and kayaks are available for day rentals--with pick up and drop off. There are over 40 Pouilly Fume wineries, a Friday farmers' market, 3 restaurants, 2 cafés as well as 2 incredible bakeries and butchers, a small grocery and a pharmacy in less than 15 minute walk from the house.
Larger towns with festivals, historic sites, supermarkets and cinemas are 15 minute drives North or South on A77, including Cosne-sur-Loire and the beautiful medieval town--La Charite sur Loire.
In addition to the standard furnishing, the house has a few bikes, barbeques, garden furniture, and wireless internet. It is a three-level house, with upstairs and downstairs entrances. Both the levels enjoy walkout gardens with traditional stone wall enclosures and beautiful trees and flowers. Both upstairs and down have street access and parking as the house is on the corner and riverfront.
If you are ready for driving visits, Sancerre, Gien, Bourges, Orléans, Vezelay and Nevers are all great day visits--with wine tasting, cathedrals or basilicas, walking malls, and more. During the summer, another great day visit is to the medieval castle reconstruction site--Guedelon-- followed by Saint Fargeau castle and nightly historical sound and light show. In the summer there are outdoor festivals, markets, fairs, and art exhibits all around the area--which are well documented with signage, at the tourism office, and in the local paper. A bit further long day trips or overnight trips can be made to Paris, the Chateau de Chenonceau, Les Hospices de Beaune and more. For more ideas and images, you can visit our website. The Paris airports are both accessible in a little over two hours by train or car.
The house is fully equipped with everything from outdoor dining furniture to wine glasses, TVs to salt & pepper shakers. Come with your family or friends and enjoy French country living and culture.
Pouilly House has independent upstairs and downstairs access. Please contact us for rates and details to rent just one level of this country home.

We spent five days in this home, relaxing with family. There are many interesting sights within a reasonable drive and the town of Pouiily-sur-Loire has everything we required a short walk away. There are limited opportunities for eating out within walking distance but the home is very well equipped for self catering with a fabulous newly renovated kitchen and living area. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the fruit trees, the vineyard beyond and the River Loire.
We stayed for a week and enjoyed every day. The home is fully stocked with all you need. The garden is lovely and there are plenty of chairs seating to relax.
Property was clean and adequate for us. However, prior photos were inaccurate, grass was long and unattended, outside seating was inadequate and showers were not great.
We enjoyed our stay. We had difficulty with the washing machine, but finally figured it out. The stairs to the lower level needs a railing. The new kitchen and dining area is very nice.

Absolutely Delightful! Our family will cherish this trip for years!
I just can't say enough about the house and the area. We spent 10 days here with our parents, my sister's family and my family. It was a full house but there was ample room for everyone and it never felt crowded. My 12 year old son's highlight was catching a cat fish on the river, which we cleaned and grilled in the back yard. My highlight was the wine tours, my dad loved the dinner at the duck farm which we went to on bikes. My niece fell in love with the goats at a nearby village. My mom loved the village church and weekly outdoor market. And, my husband thought the bikes on the railroad tracks were too fun, especially with all the black berries you can eat along the way. Do your research ahead of time, as there are sooo many things to do. I highly recommend renting a car, so you can visit places like Guedelon (a 20 year project where they are building a castle using 13th century techniques).
We enjoyed our stay on the river! Very relaxing !
We felt welcome the minute we drove in.
This home was well stocked (although we did not cook any meals)
We went on a bicycle ride with bikes provided.
When returning to this area of France we would definitely stay here again.
Owener was readily available by email.
Maison sympathique

A refaire!

Enjoyable Place
We spent two very relaxing weeks in this very nice cottage. It is fully equipped and nicly furnished. It really makes a difference if a place is also used by the owner or if it is "only" let full time. Especially for families this place is very nice. The available bikes do their job and the bike path parallel to the Loire is fantastic. The large garden invites to play outdoor games or to finally read your favorite book. It is not entirely silent though, since the property is located directly at the road to the bridge over the Loire. But don't worry too much. It is a narrow road and the traffic is low to moderate. Also you are directly at the border of the Loire and you can find many not far away places where you have access to the water. I also liked Puilly sur Loire and its sourounding very much. It is a beautiful little village. You get all basics you need and you will find two excellent Boulangeries. Especially if you like white wine, this is the right place for you.
