The bathroom window wouldn’t close all the way (a screen on the very top that lets in constant cold air). Big gab under the front door (more cold air). No sink in the bathroom to wash your hands or brush your teeth, it is in the kitchen area. The running water is yellow/brown in color. The TV stand was covered in dust. The bed frame is on rolls and has no breaks (you basically roll all over the room). Finally we had a roach come across the room at bedtime. The food in the restaurant was way overcooked and overpriced :( The property is also not located in town, which the listing didn’t really specify. Overall it was super disappointing, after it looked so promising on Expedia.

The rooms are in poor condition. The whole place is nearing the end of its life in terms of maintenance. Our room was a top of the line Deluxe Seaview Twin and when the lady next door put the light on in her bathroom our room lit up like daylight as the light came under the adjoining door and when she used her hair dryer it was like it was in our room. The view was nice, but it was just old, run down and very noisy. The restaurant was not a good experience. I ordered the Roasted Pork Belly and the ‘crackle’ on the pork belly was like a 5mm thick piece of rubber. The meal came out in around 5 minutes so assume it was a microwave job. The place is quite close to the historic site which was nice and handy, but was glad to get out of there.

Room with an incredible view
Convenient location for our visit to the port Arthur prison visit, room has fantastic views over water and forest, clean linen. Basic room with enough amenities, restaurant food reasonably good a little pricey. Room decor could be revamped and modernised, value for money though.

Was a beautiful meal & service. In our room mirror had finger marks & windows had hand prints on them. Walking up the stairs to our room was rubbish, empty hotel shamoo bottle, tissues on the stairs that the cleaners must have dropped. The bed moved away from wall, could not lock wheels, kept moving Girl cleaning tables after people had their meals, she just wiped around the salt & pepper shakers, & wiped food on floor. No milk in our room. We have stayed here before but has seemed to have declined. Was nice & comfy a place to put your head.

Unique Tudor style hotel, some units are 70’s style and need a bit of updating. Great dinner with wide menu options in the restaurant. No breakfast option in the restaurant. Reasonably priced

The Fox and Hounds is cheap and cheerful. The bed was super comfortable, and the room was updated recently. The place looks like it needs a good scrub, however was clean enough. I would happily stay here again.

We arrived a few minutes before the reception closed (about 8ish) and they told us that they had sent us a code to a lock box outside to collect our key. As my phone was dead I didn’t receive this message. We were given our key and went to drop our stuff off in our room but the room we were given had not been cleaned/serviced from the previous night and there was some rubbish left. The overhead lights in the main bedroom were also broken. We went back to reception but they had left for the evening. We were exhausted from the drive and had to wait for them to find a room that had been cleaned and was available for the night before moving all of our stuff to the new allocated room. We were then asked to drop our old rooms key in the drop box because they were closing up for the night. Once in our cleaner room we found that the beds were on rollers and the that the headboard was not attached so if you wanted to sit up in bed you couldn’t without rolling away from the wall and the headboard falling down on you. The bathroom also had dead bugs in it. Had we arrived 5 minutes later we would have been stuck either without a room or if we managed to unlock the lock box for our key with a room that was filthy from the previous guests.

There was a mistake with the room you were allocated and was fixed as soon as we were notified with a new room. The property has been clearly renovated but there was still plasterboard residue on the floors, especially around the toilet area, you wouldn't walk around barefoot.

There were a lot of spider webs in the bathroom with daddy long legs. Also in the hot water cupboard there were a lot of cobwebs and spiders. There was also a gap under our door which allowed insects to crawl under. Otherwise was very clean.

The room we stayed in was dirty, had lots of cobwebs in the bathroom/kitchenette, the toilet leaked causing the floor to become wet if left over a couple of hours and the shower drain was blocked causing water to build up in shower.

The views from the room were just incredible (it blew us away as soon as we opened the door). The bed was comfortable and very well catered for. All the staff were exceptional and went well and beyond their duties. The meals in the restaurant were excellent. We would love to have stayed longer and would definitely recommend.

I liked the spacious room, with a nice lake view outside. I also liked having b9ttled water provided & having a microwave. The downsides were that while the room looked clean and tidy, the floor was dusty.i like walking barefoot inside the room and I had gritty kind of feeling, i dropped dirt on the bedspread when I lied down. Second was parking. There aren't enough parkings right in front of your room.

Good location and helpful staff. Accommodation is outdated and feels very tired. Tavern food options seemed good but food wasnt cooked well or fully. Its hard to really enjoy when it still has so much potential to be a lovely spot.

The water view rooms were very very reasonably priced and though the rooms and hotel were obviously older and no longer pristine, they were really nicely furnished and very comfortable. The water view was absolutely serenely lovely and filled the wide window view from our rooms entirely. Just outstanding. We think the value for money for these particular rooms *for the price* was absolutely five star. But if you’re expecting true five star accommodation for the price you’re paying, or you’re a bit precious and you don’t think there’s going to be a little bit of dust and a couple of bugs around in this waterside Australian environment, or a bit of wear and tear in a hotel this age, then you would be being a little unrealistic…. Tap water is treated from a reservoir and perfectly fine for bathing and the room has plenty of bottled water (and reception will happily supply you with more if you pop across for some). We stayed here both before and after completing the four-day 3 Capes Track walk, and had a couple meals at the pub. We would absolutely stay here again. We loved it. The staff were really friendly and accommodating too.
