A lovely experience

The gite was better than we expected in a delightful location. Very quiet and set in the beautiful grounds of a Chateau. We were welcomed by Alex who was charming but spoke no English so our French was instantly tested. Only criticism was direction to the gite were not good. The gite is situated in Pierrepont not Lantheuil which made it hard to find.

Het park van het chateau is prachtig.., oude bomen, beekjes, bruggetje en zelfs n modern zwembad. Maar de accomodatie zelf was heel lang niet schoongemaakt. En dat was in t toilet, douche en keukengerei zichtbaar. Daarnaast moeten gasten niet bang zijn voor honden, want de eigenaren op t terrein hebben twee prachtig ''braques'', die komen je graag verwelkomen. De tuinmannen hebben de rol van beheerder, maar spreken geen woord engels.Dus uitleg over 'waar kunnen we een vuilniszak deponeren, of waar is de sleutel van de poort?', dat kon niet beantwoord worden, bovendien ze groeten hun gasten niet, snoeien en maaien dat t n lieve lust is. Van zwembad, jacuzzi en fitnessruimte hebben we geen gebruik gemaakt, dat was echt voor de eigen bewoners/andere gasten.

Ein herrlicher Rückzugsort! Das Haus war geräumig und bestens ausgestattet. Wir haben es genossen, in der Küche zu kochen und draußen zu essen. Die Lage ist ruhig, und dennoch ist das Stadtzentrum mit seinen Restaurants und Geschäften nur eine kurze Autofahrt entfernt. Ein idealer Ausgangspunkt, um die Normandie zu erkunden.

Wij zijn erg teleurgesteld over ons verblijf. Er was niet of nauwelijks schoongemaakt, terwijl we € 115,00 schoonmaakkosten hebben betaald. Keuken is al jaren niks aan gedaan en pannen waren ernstig beschadigd. De tuin is wel heel mooi en groot maar 's avonds aardedonker dus nodigt niet echt uit om gezellig te zitten, grenst ook niet aan het appartement We zijn eerder naar huis vertrokken dan de bedoeling was.

De locatie was prima! Bij aankomst werden we opgewacht door de eigenaar/ beheerder, waarmee voor ons niet mee te communiceren was. Het huisje leek in 1ste instantie netjes maar bij het openen van de kastjes was het ronduit vies ( spinnenwebben, dode insecten, vies servies en het allerergste… muizenkeutels. We hebben ook overlast gehad van de muizen. Alle etenswaren werden aangevreten en ze liepen gewoon door de kamer. We hebben uiteindelijk al het eetbare in de koelkast en de auto bewaard. De eigenaar was nergens te bekennen. Deze man hebben we ook niet meer gezien bij ons vertrek. Ik heb hem gemaild maar geen reactie. Ik vind, als je €115 voor schoonmaakkosten betaald (wat ik al buitenproportioneel veel vind) dat je wel een schoon huisje mag verwachten.

Al met al een goede keuze voor onze reis naar Normandië. Het huis was schoon en comfortabel. We hebben genoten van de lokale bezienswaardigheden, vooral het Caen Memorial. Een aanrader voor iedereen die op zoek is naar een rustig toevluchtsoord!

Mooi en rustig verblijf, prachtige omgeving. Ligt op een rustig landgoed met mooi bos erbij. Enige nadeel was dat we vooraf hadden geïnformeerd naar de bedden en Belvilla zei dat er een tweepersoons bed was en twee opklapbedden voor de kinderen. Tweepersoonsbed stond boven op prachtige vide en opklapbed was de tweepersoons bank die al netjes opgemaakt was bij binnenkomst. Alleen door de locatie van de beide bedden, was het logischer dat wij als ouders op het opklapbed lagen, wat wel wat hard en minder fijn lag. Verder niets dan goeds!

Wat een rust. We hebben hier een week geleefd als koning en koningin op ons eigen landgoed met een eigen park van 8 Ha, ligstoelen en ontbijthoek met uitzicht over de boomgaard. De eigenaars waren doordeweeks weg en David, de beheerder liep nog net niet op zijn tenen om ons niet te storen. Perfecte basis om uitstapjes te maken naar Bayeux, Caen en de invasiestranden. Het huis is zeer ruim en luxueus. Wel is de keukenuitrusting wat oud. De afzuigkap is oud en vet. Het glas van de afzuigkap gaf het spontaan op om 200 ‘s nachts en de voorraad pannen mag wat renovatie. Twee pitjes om op te koken is een pietsie weinig.

We zijn uitstekend ontvangen, het bed was opgemaakt en er was hout voor de flinke kachel die de hele ruimte (en die is groot) goed verwarmde. Als het op is kan je meer vragen dat is geen enkel probleem. De eigenaar kwam later in de week en is erg vriendelijk dus al met al erg prettig verblijf. Het enige wat wij jammer vonden was dat je niet vanuit je huis een terras op kan lopen, maar dat wisten we uiteraard. Het landgoed is groot zat dus het ontbreekt absoluut niet aan buitenruimte. Goeie locatie om de invasiestranden te bezoeken.
