Beautiful location in the secluded woods

This is your peaceful and serene nature getaway with an off grid appeal. It is secluded and beautiful and borders the Shawnee National Forest boundary. It is right on the wine trail in southern Illinois, with plenty of orchards and famous hiking trails such as Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. Hunting is legal on this 8.2 acre property, and there are plenty of places to hike on the property and into the connecting Shawnee National Forest. There are picnic areas in the woods and a spacious back deck to enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine while enjoying the sunset. This place is very secluded and there is almost no traffic as it sits on a one lane farm road. The entire home has been renovated and remodeled, with a wood burning stove inside. For 2024, it is in the heart of total darkness for the eclipse! Rent this secluded place and have it all to yourself for the week! Your pets are more than welcome! The bedrooms sleep 5 people. Extra guests are welcome to bring air mattresses. The kitchen has coffee and a coffee maker, as well as ice and water. There is bathtub and a shower for guests. There is also a sheltered picnic area outside in case of rain, as well as a covered back deck. WI-FI has just been added to the home! .

Great family retreat

Our trip was to attend my son's graduation from SIU. The cabin was in an accessible spot to Carbondale and was great for the 5 of us. We enjoyed our stay!

The house is exactly as described. Very clean and had everything we needed, comfortable beds, hot shower with good pressure and everything we needed to make meals in the kitchen. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was there. And we really appreciated how dog friendly the host is! Just be aware that their are a lot of ticks and mosquitoes if you bring your pets!

Peaceful Location

The cabin was perfect, neat and clean, it had all we needed for the stay. This will be a perfect place to spend with family away from busy schedule, host was very friendly and kind, replies fast. We stayed three nights, there isnt much to explore around but it was relaxing.!! We went to ponoma natural bridge, Bald knob Cross and Cedar Lake beach.

A few family members and I stayed for our annual girls weekend trip. The host was great with communication and we felt very welcomed at this secluded house. With three bedrooms, we had plenty of space to relax and enjoy our time away from home. The surrounding woods gives a very private feel. The location was wonderful for our weekend winery trip. We didn't have time to explore the Natural Bridge or The Little Grand Canyon, but we were very close to the Shawnee National Forest.

Good option close to Holy Boulders

If you're looking to visit Holy Boulders, this spot gets you within 5-10 minutes of either trailhead. It was clean, roomy, and has everything you need when you're not at the crag.

Lovely Lodge

We enjoyed our visit! The lodge was very clean, spacious and had plenty of amenities! The kids loved exploring the property! The owner advised us of great places to eat and nearby hiking trails! We loved the area and were very satisfied with this lovely lodge!

Cute little home in the forest, so quiet and peaceful! It’s a bit of a drive to get to anything - groceries, restaurants etc, but when you’re sitting on the back porch enjoying the beautiful view you won’t care. Just plan accordingly. Great communication from Kevin when needed. Clean home, comfy beds, a fridge that was very thoughtfully stocked with lots of bottled water which was very appreciated for hiking the trails nearby. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Property and Host

Stayed at this property to birdwatch in the Shawnee and Cache, the property was excellent. Had barred owls, yellow-throated warbler, hooded warbler, and other great birds right there at the house.The host was wonderful and answered any questions we had promptly, they were nothing but helpful. Perfect for hikers

On the west side of the beautiful Shawnee National Forest, this house is perfect for a couple, friends, small family or retreat. Quiet, very secluded, very comfortable and spacious. Good supplies, unless you plan to cook a lot - bring fry pans, large pots. Location offers beautiful hiking, good wineries and quaint towns to peruse. Highly recommend, we enjoyed our anniversary here.

Peaceful Stay

My husband and I had a great stay here with our two dogs to get away from our noisy city over the 4th of July. The property was lovely, the house had everything we needed and more. Our host was super fast to respond to all inquiries, plus gave us some tips for sightseeing and local restaurants (I was previously unaware of Inspiration Point and it was gorgeous!!!). It was a perfect and peaceful stay, and we would most definitely stay here again. Thank you! :)
