Excellent choice due to the convenience to walk around the most popular street in Playa del Carmen and offers a variety of choice to eat, walk, shop, and explore the area. It’s safe to walk around during the days and nights. Great choice! If you are looking to save a buck.

I have previously stayed at Tukan. It has a cozy pool area, a close walk to the beach & various amenities. Being near the strip you can anticipate nightlife with music occasionally loud until late. The staff are friendly & very accommodating. Overall is a satisfactory 3 star hotel & would stay again.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Very very clean and lots of storage and plugs for my electronics. Shower worked well. Location is uber convenient. My room was across the street from the main building. The reclusiveness worked for me. Bed is very comfortable. Felt safe too!

I loved that El Tukan is an oasis in the middle of a busy city. We could sit by the pool with its beautiful gardens surrounding us. The rooms were comfortable and clean with a king sized bed.

This is my second stay in this hotel. It is very clean and the staff are friendly. The only thing I would like would be a mini fridge, that would be handy to keep some food and drink so you don’t always have to go out

From the out side the property looks nice and it is in a great central location where you can walk to shops, restaurants, and excursion meeting points. Lots of mosquitos inside the rooms. We had to change rooms due to a water leak then in the new room the shower did not drain properly, the toilet would not fill up after flushing, and one of the AC units made loud clicking noises. We chose this hotel because of location and price. We booked several tours around the area and did not spend a lot of time at the hotel. The staff was helpful and attentive.

Very nice Tropical Hotel. Not very modern but clean and functional. I didn’t like that the Hotel counts with two separate buildings half a block apart. The main building has a bigger pool and is right off Famous Fifth Avenue. The other still very close but not right off the strip. Very small Pool. Parking sucks if you leave at night. The parking attendants there 24/7 can be very helpful.

The staff service was good, they offered us the all included on the restaurant next to the hotel and it was not worth it, room was ok until there was a bug on a pillow and I saw two cockroaches, and we expected to be on the main building but they send us to one behind. Good thing we booked for just 3 nights.

The hotel grounds were very pretty with the greenery around the pool, very beautiful. The hotel was also well located next to 5th ave...however, the rooms were small & oddly shaped. The room smelled like sewer. The mattresses were as hard as a rock with lumpy & hard pillows. The bath towel were large (bath blanket) which was nice, but they were OLD. They were the towels in the perfect state to rip up and use for cleaning the car. The air conditioning barely worked, it took 8 hours for the room to cool down enough to be bearable enough to sleep. As if that wasnt bad enough, the shower was dirty, small and the water barely dripped out of the shower spout. No need to even turn on the cold water, just turning on the hot water, after 15 mins, was luke warm, warm enough to go under ... unless youre brave & shower with cold water. The entire bathroom, especially the shower head needs a DEEP cleaning.

I had a terrible experience with this hotel, and when I asked for assistance from Expedia, rhe rep didn’t care. I arrived close to midnight, and the Hotel receptionist was busy with a report and took about 30 minutes to pay attention to us (no other people were waiting, just us). He was annoyed that we were waiting for him and gave us the worst possible room, in front of a busy street (noisy at night), on the 3rd floor with no elevator. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs, with no bellboy to help either. The water from the shower and faucet is from the sea (salt water), so no fresh water even to wash your face. No glasses, no table to put our stuff, rotten and private faucets and outlets (I attached pictures), mold on the walls. When I explained this to the Expedia rep, he only offered to talk to the hotel to get me a refund, but offer no solution or second accommodation, not even at a “higher price” that I would have gladly paid

At the beginning when we first arrived to our first room, the room was very hot because AC wasn’t working and smelled humid and moldy. It seems there was a leak from roof because there was water on the floor by bed. But they did a great job in changing our room to a better room. In that room AC was working and it smells better. There is no fridge or microwave. Breakfast buffet was good and staff were polite, friendly and helpful.
