This place was perfect for my solo getaway to Pagah Forest! It was clean, well-equipped with essentials and very close to Pisgah Forest and DuPont. I had the best time!
The house was just the right size for the two of us and our small dog. It us a very convenient and affordable place to stay if you want to explore the Brevard area. Great dining, shopping and outdoor activities are minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was musty and the dehumidifier did not work. The air wasn’t moving in the cabin with the heat unit. The bedroom, kitchen and bathroom were immaculate and accommodations were very nice. It has everything you need to cook sleep well and take a nice hot shower.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this property. The location is private and in a tucked into the woods. Driveway warrants an AWD or 4WD vehicle but adds to the mountain getaway experience.
As some others noted, the place is a bit musty and left scent on clothes. The management company kind of spams you a bit and communication is a bit robotic/confusing compared to other experiences
The rental was perfect for me to decompress for a week. It was nearby to Pisgah and Dupont which was perfect. The internet was fast and reliable so I was able to work when needed.
This garage apartment is so well designed and comfortable. It was just right for us and had everything we needed. It was close to Pisgah Forest, Mills River, DuPont Forest and our family in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you!
The place and the area were more than we expected. Pisgah Forest is full of beautiful trails and great breweries within 10 min drive. Asheville was close and the airport closer. The rental was adorable and the perfect size for a couple. I highly recommend this property and the area
I surprised my wife for her birthday and brought her to stay here. She had no idea until the day of. It was perfect and she loved it. Very clean and very nice. We loved the location and privacy. Ironic I just got an email to review because we were trying to figure out when we could go back before the summer is over.
This was a fantastic rental- my husband, son (age 12), and I stayed for a long weekend. It is bigger than it looks in the pictures, and very clean. We brought a camping cot for our son to sleep on in the bedroom, and had plenty of space for it next to the bed with walk-space in between. The kitchen was great, we made all of our meals at the house, and spent most of our time hiking in the nearby nature preserves. It is an easy ~30 minute drive to Asheville, and we thought Brevard had a really cute downtown. I loved that the house is tucked away and very private, but a short distance from a main road. We would definitely stay here again!!
The driveway is steep so it is challenging with a car. I have a sports car and just barely pulled it off without getting stuck. I scrapped my undercarriage getting in and out. If you stick close to the downhill side it is better. Other than that, the location is great and the place was nice and clean. Quiet at night. Close to Brevard and Dupont.
Over all the property was decent. However when I visit a rental I try to think of it in relation to staying at a Hotel, is it better, worse, or about the same. Considering this, some things were better, but a number of key things were worse. The good points were that the house was clearly cleaned before our visit. The location was good though a little more info about what to expect when driving onto the property would have been helpful.
The main issue was the dampness of the house. It was so extremely damp that the bedding and even our cloths felt wet for most of the trip. We turned the AC unit on "dry" mode and after a few hours it started to make a difference, however it smelled musty and clearly needed a good cleaning. There were two damprid containers and 3 "air fresheners" placed throughout the house. This did not help. Even now our luggage still smells like cheap air freshener .
A few other lesser points but still a considerable factor are:
1) The bed - too hard, not firm - just hard, worse then most hotel beds.
2) the couch - an ancient, very worn couch that is bent in the middle, very uncomfortable.
3) the wide steps going down to the entrance - The dirt and gravel has warn away in the step and that leaves a wooden lip at the edge which is VERY easy to trip over going down... I'm fairly certain if there is any building code in the area this would be a violation. You can see the steps I'm talking about in the main picture.
4) One of the pillowcases had a weird gooey mass on it, no idea what it was but we did not use the pillow obviously. The rest of the bedding seemed clean though.
This place has potential, and clearly is a new construction. However it's possible some moisture barrier or insulation was missed during the renovation. If that is addressed along with some of the maintenance points this would be quite a nice place to stay, unfortunately for us it was not so great.
Overall the rental was nice. The stairs leading to the house were dry rotted and were a bit of a hazard. Amenities were nice but could have provided more cutlery. Also all the drains in the bathroom could use a visit from a plumber. Most did not drain well when in use, especially the shower.
Beautiful property, secluded but close to so many fun outdoor activities. The property management company was quick to respond to any questions we had. Please note, there is a large pet fee not listed on the VRBO site and not made known until after booking - that was really our only issue.
