Step Back in Time, Stay in Comfort
Your private guest cottage shares the grounds of the Walter Lee Smith House, a Tudor Revival farmhouse built in 1926 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mature landscaping—including shady Chinese elms and a towering Aleppo pine in the front yard—creates a rare, park-like retreat in the heart of Phoenix.
While you enjoy modern comforts—fast WiFi, keyless entry, a fully equipped kitchen, and in-unit laundry—you’ll also be surrounded by the history of North Central Phoenix. The main Tudor farmhouse is rarely used, so you’ll have the privacy of your own 800 sq. ft. cottage plus the atmosphere of a century-old estate.
For guests traveling with pets, a dog door and fenced yard make the space especially welcoming for four-legged companions.
Outdoor Space
Enjoy three patios shaded by mature trees, perfect for your morning coffee, a day of remote work, or an evening glass of wine. The Aleppo pine anchors the yard and adds a sense of permanence and calm that’s rare in Phoenix.
Guest Access & Privacy
Guests have their own entrance, private parking, and secure keyless check-in, ensuring a completely independent stay.
Location
The cottage is freeway-close and minutes from:

It took me a little bit to find but because I initially used to google only the owner directions helped allot.
Quiet nice location with lots of convenient parking.
Older property but clean & comfortable.
This is our second stay and has become our favorite place. We travel to phoenix to visit our daughter and we take our dog. This place is just perfect. Great location, close to our golf course and restaurants.
The fenced yard is great for the dog and has options for outdoor seating that we enjoy. Always wish i could stay longer!
Loved the place. A great location for us to visit friends. Well stocked kitchen, bathroom & linens were high end. Instructions for check-in and check-out were good. Birds sung us awake each morning.
This little cottage was just perfect for our visit. Very cozy, spacious lvg rm & bdrm, private location, comfy bed, great outdoor spaces front & back to relax. Close to many different amenities, very easy access.
Note to travelers: 1-There are no markings to the driveway entrance, which is actually on N 7th Ave (around the corner from the main house street address), it's easy to miss. So look for the neighbor's green mailbox for a landmark. 2-The oven runs 25°-50° hot, so adjust accordingly. 3-Bring your Roku (as recommended by the Host)! ...Not deal breakers at all!
Tracy @ 'A Great Stay' was extremely helpful with a reservation snafu! Thank you Tracy!
We would definitely stay here again!
Everything in the home was perfect, down to the small details. I had everything I needed and was as comfortable as I would be in my own home. I appreciate them having me!
We wanted to be in central Phoenix and this was a great location - in a nice neighborhood and felt very safe. The space was perfect. Our only observation was that if you use the sofa bed in the living room, the blinds/shades need to be replaced as it gets very bright early in the morning. The parking area could also use a light.

Phoenix vacation
Just wanted to say that my wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at this property. We were a little hesitant because there were no previous reviews for us to read and that made my wife a little nervous. My response to that was, "well, there were no negative reviews". We think reviews are an important way for the next guests to determine whether they want to rent or not. I will say that everything was actually better than we expected. The place was well equipped and nicely furnished. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space and perfect for what we were looking for. The TV was a little confusing and several channels said, "lost signal", possibly due to some high wind. We couldn't always find the channels we were looking for, but we were on vacation and not there to watch TV. Very relaxing front and back patios, perfect for happy hour! This place is very close proximity to stores, restaurants and the golf courses we played all week. We had a great week!
This was just the perfect place for us. We travel to phoenix to visit our daughter and this place is just a gem! So nice to have the outdoor space for our dog and the furnishings were so comfortable. Really has everything we needed and close to our favorite restaurants and golf course. We certainly hope to make this our home away from home whenever we visit Phoenix.
the rental was beautiful and the owneres were a delight to deal with
Our only complaint was the tv. The assortment
of channels was extremely limited, and we did not have the
ability to log into out streaming channels.
Other than than, the rental was ideal
I loved this little property. It was well laid out and decorated. For such a small place, there were a lot of discrete spaces which made it seem really spacious. The location was perfect for my needs. Communication was fast and easy. I will definitely recommend to others.
This was the perfect place to hunker down, quarantine, and work remotely. It’s super quiet, clean, and centrally located to a number of attractions, grocery and hiking. The fenced yard was plenty of room for my dog to stretch her legs. Plus the seating areas are great. There’s always a place to sit in the sun or shade- whatever your preference.
I’ll be booking again!
property was clean and with all the supplies needed to make us feel at home.
Place was clean, plenty parking area, easy access to downtown. If I have to ask for something would be screen doors. We rented the last week of October and weather was perfect for daytime breezy but my wife is a magnet for mosquitoes.
Another Request is that communication goes via email, this has nothing to do with our hosts but with Vrbo, we booked just 2 days before our stay and had hard time retrieving the our messages since we didn't have good access to internet while on the road, we are your 1% that does not get email on cell-phone. Texts for us are more convenient.
Over all we had a great stay with all the comforts as promised and more. We will try too book again when we come back to Phoenix.
My daughter and I loved it! We brought our dog and great spaces outside to throw a ball and walk him in neighborhood.
Stocked kitchen, beds and linens were comfortable and great quality.
Great restaurants on 7th street and yoga very close.
We would stay again
Great place to stay if you don't mind the traffic. The fresh fruit right off the trees was great. Owners were great as was the neighbor. Loved the casita, clean and comfortable.

Well equipped cozy guest house on a beautiful centrally located property
This was the perfect place to stay with our dogs for a week, while our house was being worked on. Comfortable and well equipped, and close to excellent restaurants.

Very clean, cozy,and quiet.
It was exactly what we were looking for, close to Spring Training sites and only 15 minutes to Chase Field and downtown Phoenix. Fry's, Sprouts, Costco, and Mall close by. Cottage has all the amenities one could ask for and was very clean. Tracy and Chris were easy to reach and were very accommodating if one needed anything. I would recommend this property.

Comfortable, very clean, and had some charm
We had a lovely time exploring Phoenix. It was surprisingly quiet and very private, considering it was on a main road. Tracy was quick to answer any needs or problems we had. We felt the light was rather dim for reading in the living room and (the very same day) a floor lamp was waiting on our front entryway for our use when we retuned from exploring! The kitchen is well equipped with a nice eating area. It looked like it would be pleasant to eat on the private back courtyard, but alas, it was a cold week we chose to be in Phoenix! Google: "Sprouts," the organic food store nearby, for wonderful whole foods, if you like to cook. My husband has severe food allergies, so we appreciated the kitchen at this cottage. Make sure you check out the botanical gardens in the area: The Desert Botanical Garden, and the Lloyd Thompson Arboretum State Park. And of course the Heard Museum and the MIM (Musical Instruments Museum) were outstanding. We usually try to chose a place to stay that has a "sense of place" and some local character, verses just another cookie-cutter accommodation. This cottage was comfortable, very clean, and had some charm.
