"Friendly staff. Rooms clean. We ordered a full breakfast. Lots on the plate. Double of everything. No coffee machine for a proper coffee with breakfast. Overall a good nights stay."

"Room 3 was really spacious, more like a suite with comfortable sofa and armchair and low table too. The many pictures on the wall were tasteful. The bath was particularly good!"

"Excellent one night stay. Lovely clean hotel and massive rooms!! Really nice and quiet. Nice breakfast, nothing to complain about.
The leisure club is a little tired and doesn't match the rest of the hotel. The gym is good enough, but the machines are very old, and the pool/steam room area could definitely do with an uplift.
I would 100% stay here again though!! Really enjoyed it. "
"We've been visiting this place for decades and our most recent visit, since taken over by Sunday, fell short of expectation. Maybe teething or transitional issues but the place has lost its charm.
We were surprised to be charged for swimming, £12 pppd, this had always been included previously.
We went down to the bar and restaurant for dinner but left within 10 minutes as there was no atmosphere at all, you could hear a pin drop, no music or TV on, no one wanted to speak. We chose a table to sit on and it hadn't been cleaned, can't say the bar staff were run off their feet...
The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are always clean, fresh, with everything you need. Now you have to request housekeeping via an App, it will not be done routinely.
Obviously these companies want to find every way to increase profit but it might come at detriment to what makes this place lovely. Not sure we'll be back."
"After check in, we went to our room (140) which had a double bed in one room and 2 sofa beds in the adjoining room, lots of space for everyone! One of the sofa beds wasn’t made up so I asked reception for help. They quickly came along with bedding and we went for a swim before dinner.
Dinner was served in the bar as there were too few guests to use the restaurant. The food was standard hotel price and quality, it filled a hole but wouldn’t be a reason to return.
We returned to our room and despite being a bit too hot, we all slept well.
We woke in the morning and fitted in another swim before breakfast. Someone had registered for breakfast under our room number - a non resident and his kids freeloading.
My daughter began itching her arm but I thought nothing of it. Over the course of the next couple of hours she was itchy all over and when I looked she had red itchy spots all over both arms, her shoulders and back.
I emailed the hotel to let them know so they could check the room/sofa bed and bedding but they haven’t replied.
We were due to return on our way back home but have managed to cancel this. We are now out of pocket for antihistamine, creams and washing our clothing at 60 degrees but we learnt an important lesson. I have stayed in many hotels and never thought to check for such things. I don’t think I’ll ever sleep anywhere again without a mattress inspection. "
"Didn’t have breakfast, the rooms are lovely but there’s no lifts and everything is spaced out it was lucky we could park near our room and use the fire exit "
"The breakfast was very overpriced. The room was very attractive, historic and clean. The bed was comfortable. The family enjoyed the pool. Major complaint was that it was a hot day, the air conditioning wouldn't work and to make it worse, the heat wouldn't go off. "
"Room cleanliness was very poor.
Staff were generally approachable and helpful.
Spa was ok but cleanliness was poor.
Breakfast (included) was very limited."
