Disappointing five-night stay
1. Misleading hotel credit
At check-in, I was told I had a $100 credit for five nights, calculated at $20 per night. The coffee shop exclusion was explained, but the $20 daily limit and loss of unused credit were not. Believing I could use the full $100 toward one meal, I had a $173.87 dinner, including gratuity. Only at checkout was I told the credit had to be used daily. I would not have incurred that expense had the terms been clear. A $20 daily credit with no carryover should be described that way.
2. Unhelpful complaint handling
The receptionist said I should have asked more clearly. When I requested a manager, she said none was there. I then asked for a manager's business card, but she initially declined, saying the hotel had many managers. I simply wanted one appropriate contact. Only after I insisted did she go to the back room and provide a card. The issue remained unresolved.
3. Noise and heating problems
Noise through the large windows—from nearby hotel activity, street conversations, traffic, and emergency vehicle sirens—disrupted my sleep throughout the stay. On the first night, the room was about 68°F and was not warming adequately. Staff brought a portable space heater after I reported the problem.
I expected clear communication, helpful service, and a comfortable room where I could sleep. This stay fell short.
