Ruthin Castle Hotel

"From the outside of the castle it looks very impressive but like all old buildings they are a bit rundown in places, but it was clean, our room was very spacious and looked fantastic from afar but when you got closer there were a few issues, mainly in the bathroom but it wasn’t enough to ask for a change of room. There’s no lift available so be prepared for either long walks through several corridors or several flights of stairs to get to your room, that was the only downside. The breakfast was help yourself and there was plenty of choice, we ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely, but be prepared for very high bar prices for drinks, £12.50 for a large glass of wine, there’s a few pubs about a 7 minute walk away. The grounds are lovely and there’s several peacocks wandering around, they were a bit noisy at times but we enjoyed our stay there."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Waterloo Lodge Hotel. Surprisingly upgraded on arrival to a lodge room with patio. It was nice to have some outside space. Room was spotless & quiet, bed comfortable and we slept really well. The addition of a mini bar would be useful but other than that, the amenities were very good. We didn't use the pool or gym but ate in the restaurant 1 night as closed on Monday & Tuesday evenings. This wasn't an issue as there are plenty of good pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfasts at the hotel are excellent and cooked to order with good quality produce. The outside areas would benefit from a bit of attention but we will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay :)"

"This was a stay mainly to see the area not to use the facilities but the gym looked good . I wanted to use the pool one evening but it was closed at 6 when i went so beware of that . Food was great and good value . Breakfast was excellent with a good choice . Excellent room for wheelchair users which my wife is . Brilliant wet room and excellent all round . Parking good also ."

"We had a wonderful stay! This one night stay was a last minute trip for me, my husband and 10week baby, the people were amazing and made us feel welcome from storing our milk and ice bags, checking in on me when breastfeeding to see if they could get me anything more, getting fresh cold water and the hotel and guests being understanding when our little newborn was playing up during breakfast. Location was great, 5-10mins drive from Conwy Castle and the marina where we had dinner. We would definitely stay again"

"This was my first visit. It’s a community owned hotel, run by locals who raised a lot of money to take it over and open it up again. They have done a great job. My room was spotless and I told my wife I needed sunglasses on the bedding was so white. A large shower in the en-suite was very welcome after a long day. I had my evening meal there and it was very good,"

"The staff were all amazingly polite, professional and helpful, with a special shout out for Linda who we dealt with us at breakfast and can i say the breakfast was lovely. The main building was spotlessly clean and modern and the health spa was fantastic. The only downside to our stay was the lodge felt tired and could have been cleaner if it had a bit more attention to detail. Also there was no aircon and they could provide enough fans for the number of lodges they have. Overall it was a lovely stay and the staff are a credit to the place."
