My family (2 kids + 2 adults) stayed at the Grand Hotel for 4 nights this past week. We chose this hotel because it was one of the few value properties with a pool. The hotel itself is located on a busy street, however, the rooms at the back of the expansive property are quiet and among lovely gardens and lots of birds. The pool is clean and the kids used it most days. Additionally, they have 5-6 different free wi-fi networks to choose from, and all work great! We found the staff and the owner to be extremely helpful, giving us guidance on how to avoid what can seem to be chaos at the boat launches, and avoid paying the tourist costs for taxis and tuk-tuks. When you travel to Guatemala we all need to remember that the little things like hot water on demand (it takes a minute to warm up here), room service, and plush oversized pillows are not always easy to find, at least without paying through the roof. This place is safe, clean, convenient, and happy to see you.
