We love this home and Alligator Point! Our 3rd successful year at this home. We enjoyed the beach, golf, fishing and the remote location. Thank you Sharon!
We were so happy with Quirky Crab we did year 2 of family vacation. We are especially happy the property is pet friendly. We enjoyed fishing, golf and beaches. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The location is beatiful and very quiet. The beach was empty most of the time and we absolutely loved it! We were able to find a lot of shells on the beach and were even able to see a sea turtle being released from the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab.There were 6 adults and our dog and we had plenty of room. The house is exactly described and pictures. We hope to come back soon!
unresponsive to telephone texting . they did answer my calls. the fellow sent out, Dan, was extremely polite and partially fixed television problems. televisions did not work properly. ceiling fans and window blinds/sills were filthy. trash can unwieldy. kitchen cutlery very dull. small futon in living room bolts falling out.... blah, blah, it is an older unit and shows its use. however, it did have wonderful hot water, a simple to use washer/dryer and ample room for the kids.
If you want quiet and no people around, this is the place for you!! Alligator Point is secluded from "town"! The only business is the Tiki bar open from Thursday-Sunday, and everyone goes there!! The property is nice, clean, and as advertised. Nothing fancy. Fenced in yard was great for the dogs! Beach is nice and great for walking and collecting shells! Thanks for a nice stay!!!
We had an absolutely phenomenal time. We pretty much had the entire beach to ourselves. We saw nurse sharks, pods of dolphins hunting on the beach and lots and lots of crabs. The house was clean and spacious and equipped with pretty much anything you need. Our host was very responsive and accommodating. We ate at the Tiki Hut, Angelo’s and Trident and they were all good with Trident being our favorite. We are already planning to come back later this year. Thanks for letting us stay and being able to make lifetime memories.
The Quirky Crab was everything we hoped. The house was precious and well-stocked, with fantastic beach views. The large fenced yard was perfect for our dogs! We had breakfast on the screened porch after our morning beach walks. At night, we sat on the deck and gazed at the stars. There was a new moon our first couple of days, and the Milky Way was visible, and we even saw several shooting stars. The beach was secluded and lovely. Large shells were plentiful. Sharon was the best. She promptly responded to every text I sent and was extremely accommodating. I hope to return in the spring and stay here again!
This cute beach house is perfect if you want peace and quiet! Clean, well stocked kitchen , with functional appliances. Comfortable beds & a nice tile shower . Best views ever from living area and screened porch. An easy, sandy path leads directly from the house to the beach. There's a water source under the house on the beach level to rinse feet and paws. The beach was littered with shell pieces & sea grass and the water was very brown (there was a hurricane 2 weeks ago, not sure if that contributed or not). The sand was nicely packed, that made for a good walk, but bring bug spray, the biting flies can be a problem.
My 2 dogs and I wanted a super chill Christmas this year, our second without John, and this little gem was exactly what we hoped for. Quirky fun furnishings, loved how safe pups were with giant fenced yard. Winter is off season for our Forgotten Coast so we basically had the beach to ourselves, the boys loved to run and frolic in the sand. Sharon was super responsive, home was clean and bright, kitchen extremely well stocked, and the Roku TV option was a hoot. Spent most of our time on spacious deck on the Gulf, dolphins visited daily, Christmas Day was high winds and rainy so we watched the 'angry' Gulf from safety of awesome screened porch! If you want chill, relaxing , well priced, good value visit to our Forgotten Coast this is the place, we can't wait to enjoy more time at QC, thanks Sharon!
It's really difficult to put into words how wonderful Alligator Point is to someone who has never been to the area. Very isolated and very few people at the beach. There were many days we had the beach to ourselves. Complete relaxation and isolation provided the perfect ability to recharge personal batteries of life. The house was well equipped with everything required for a two week stay. Local area has enough grocery options, restaurants and fresh fish markets for any meal option you are looking for. The property has a wonderful fenced in yard for fur babies. Our labs thoroughly enjoyed the yard and the beach. Bald Point State Park offered a nice change from walks on the beach with multiple hiking paths to explore. St. George Island Lighthouse is a great destination for a day trip if your looking for a fun scenic drive. The overall house is very well taken care of and the bedrooms offer a comfortable nights sleep after a long day of hiking or lounging at the beach. The deck and screened in porch offer additional options if a break from the beach is needed. The beach is a very short walk from the house and if you fish there's plenty of species to catch. There will definitely be a return trip to the Quirky Crab!
Sharon was an excellent and responsive communicator before, during and after our stay. We had one minor equipment malfunction and she had it replaced in a day.
If you're looking for "hustle & bustle", traffic or loud nightlife, the Quirky Crab isn't for you. I think we counted 6 people walking on "our" beach the first day and a traffic jam of 10 people on the second. We took one day trip to stoll Apalachicola and explore the beaches of St. George Island and it was so packed, I couldn't wait to get back to the QC!
Sitting on the deck, we sipped coffee in the morning watching Eagles, Cormorants, Pelicans and Dolphins offshore. At sunrise and sunset, we walked the 100(ish) feet to the beach and kicked off our sandals to stroll the beach. If we passed 6 people in an hour, that was a crowd! We recommend walking the beach at low tide when you can also explore 300 - 400 feet out into the Gulf... especially awesome if you can time it with a sunrise 🌅.
Thanks again, Sharon, we hope to come back again!
This secluded home hosted our kick off to summer and high school graduation for my family of 4 and 3 dogs. Wonderful location for relaxing and fishing on Florida's forgotten coast. We arrived late afternoon, during the heat wave and the AC was turned off. We were miserable the first night and the freezer (ice cream melted) couldn't even keep up until the next day. There was a load of clothes left in the dryer that I folded and left on top of the dryer, before I could wash and dry my own clothes. The closest grocery store is over 20 minutes away and most restaurants are closed during the week. It was very hard finding food Monday-Wednesday. Loved finding all the hermit crabs and blue crabs everyday. Make sure to bring your beach chairs and beach umbrella/canopy. The sun was brutal during our stay, the last week of June. This home's gulf-front location and views were absolutely amazing!
***Caution For Pet Owner***
The front gate is broken and barely functional at all. We were constantly worried if the dog touches the gate or makes an attempt to jump they would get run over on the highway. We almost parked our vehicle sides at the gate to make sure that our dogs would be secure while they were out in the "fully fenced-in yard". Please repair the gate immediately, it is not safe as the advertised "pet friendly".
We love this beautiful beachfront home. We have stayed here a couple of times. It is nicely decorated, good bedroom/ bathroom spaces and wonderful kitchen. Many sitting areas, front porch, screened room as well as 2 sets of sliding glass doors making the living room an excellent sitting area with oceanfront views as well. Thanks Sharon for hosting us! We love your house!!
Our family was pleased with our stay.It was by far the least crowded beach that we have ever stayed at-very private!
The house had all we needed and the short walk to the beach was a huge plus.
I would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a quiet, private beach vacation.
Quirky Crab was ideal for us. Pet friendly, remote as in away from the usual beach scene. Short walk from rear deck to the beach, very private. We really enjoyed our stay.
