Very friendly and welcoming hosts! The property was immaculately clean. Within walking distance of shops, bars and railway station. A lovely weekend stay would highly recommend!
Very welcoming hosts. Although our room was small it was very clean with comfortable bed, coffee/tea facilities and other little extras. Excellent cooked to order {hot} breakfast with choices of cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast and jams. There is a lounge area and bar. Would book again.
What a fantastic place. Malcolm and Mandy are the hosts and very nice people. The place was very clean and the breakfast selection was great. Thank you for looking after us
Accomodation fantastic, location fantastic, food you couldn't want for better, the vicinity to the beach, harbour or town no more than 10 minutes walk maximum. The hosts were unbelievable, nothing was too much for them, will definitely be going back.

Friendly hosts, lovely breakfast..
Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Poor wi fi reception. Shower poor water flow. Very clean room, lovely touches such as mints and good selection of hot drinks. Good breakfast , lovely fresh fruit and tasty cooked breakfast, could have extended the time of breakfast to a little later.
Lovely hotel 5 mins from sea. Owners were fabulous, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was cooked well with plenty of choice. Would certainly recommend.
Malcolm and Mandy, we're lovely friendly people, very welcoming. The briars hotel is in an excellent position, very close to the beach, ideal location.
Great choice of food for breakfast.
Would definitely come back to stay.
Had a 2 night stay here ! Mandy and Malcolm made are very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us ! Rooms are lovely and everything you need in them , breakfast was excellent ! Overall excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone !
I had a three night stay at The Briars in a single room (the middle window on the 1st floor) with a view over the promenade to the bay and pier. There is an en-suite toilet/wash basin and you have the exclusive use of a stand-alone shower-room which is just round the corner on the landing, which was very good indeed. The room was spotless, very comfortable and the bed was great - I slept like a log! A nice touch was a bottle of water in the room and this was refillable from the water cooler in the hall - ice cold!
Hosts Malcolm and Mandy were lovely and very welcoming. I enjoyed their breakfasts, there's plenty to choose from and the full English was excellent. My room was tidied every day and anything I'd used was refreshed or replaced, so it was a joy to come back in the evening.
It's a nice hotel, very close to some nice places to eat and only a short walk to the centre of Paignton, the beach, marina, etc. I'd stay there again in a flash.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
Not my CUP of tea
Briars was easy to find lovely colour building, only spaces for 4 cars at the front and one right next to the wall where I scraped the paintwork on my car door,The Owners are lovely and welcoming and the lounge is lovely and comfortable good taste of decor.
Small bar which only stocks some basics Whisky,Brandy,Gin,Vodka, beer and Coke. We stayed in room 12 3rd floor again tasteful decor blue and white. Had a ensuite the shower was lovely and hot but the sink you had to be careful you didnt hit your head on it as you hovered on the toilet to do your business, also the tv which was small was on top of a wardrobe not overly a problem, the bed was a huge problem very hard and uncomfortable also we were itching from the bed sheets no drawers if you wanted they were built into the divan which was a pain each time lifting up the sheet, the breakfast was lovely shame no apple juice on offer just Orange or grapefruit, the sausages are lovely and breakfast was plentiful people seemed to struggle to work the toaster as it was a time dial one. From personal experience I would not visit again I dreaded going to sleep on the bed we stayed 3 nights.
This hotel is right on the sea front many rooms have sea views it is close to the centre, bus and rail station. The food is good the rooms are clean, you are made to feel welcome by all the staff. Malcolm and Mandy the owner's can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. There is a bar where everyone met in the evening. Don't miss this gem. Will be back
