"My wife and I loved our time at this property. It has a very cute garden where we would sit and have tea. We also enjoyed the art display in the living room, which was all made by the host’s mother. The property is in an area away from the city where we could get a taste of everyday life in Japan, so we were delighted every time we walked to and from the train stations. "I wanted a quiet house near Kyoto Station to write and relax, and this was the perfect choice. It's in a residential area, so there's no street traffic. The bathroom is fantastic, with a great soaking tub that overlooks the maple tree. It's also conveniently located near Aeon Mall, making it easy to bring groceries home. I had everything I needed, and the hotel was very responsive to communication. The only thing I could think of adding might be a bicycle. I hope to stay there again soon!"

"We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. "Comfortable, well-located house in a quiet residential alley. The house was quite cold when I arrived, and it took some time to heat up. The place doesn’t get much sunlight. Cool to stay in a machiya. Stairs are narrow and more like a ladder, but easily navigable for younger and smaller bodies. For the price there are more comfortable and equally well situated places around. "
