We arrived to check in after booking our stay in mid August, this was confirmed by Expedia/Book a Bach and our payment taken. When we arrived to check in on 30 December the hotel staff could find no record of our booking. They tried everything to see where our booking was. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to try and find alternative accommodation for the night. We could not get hold of Expedia/Book a Bach, the 0800 number has been in overload for the past 24 hours, the virtual chat on the app was useless and achieved nothing, I have tried to email with no response. I want a refund for my booking but it seems Expedia are missing in action. This is not the fault of the hotel staff, they were great and the property looks amazing.3 1/2 hours drive later we found somewhere to stay. Still no response from Expedia on my refund and seems there is no way to lodge a claim for a refund on the app. Come on Expedia, get in touch and get this sorted, you are quick to promote yourselves and take the booking/payment, what about some service when things go wrong. I wait in anticipation before taking this further via other avenues. A great holiday spoilt by some faceless corporate who cant be contacted. Thanks to the Opononi Hotel staff who did all they could to rectify this at a very busy time, it was much appreciated.

Second time Bookabatch mistake

We drove 4.5 hours to this motel. When we arrived they informed us that they had not recieved any booking from Bookabatch, so we had to drive back to Auckland. This is the second time that Bookabatch does a mistake with our booking. We will never use them again.

Delightful staff, room and beach!

Beautiful location looking over the harbor, nice relaxed setting, peaceful sleep! The room was smaller than expected, but the gorgeous huge bathroom made up for that right away! Coffee on the attached balcony looking at the water, also expanded the room when the sun came out each day. The property is older but the room updates are sophisticated and very functional. Fridge and coffee jug in the room and sky tv made early nights in and sleeping in, very enjoyable. Awesome water pressure, instant hot water in a luxurious tiled shower followed with heat pump cozy air made for a perfect winter get away. Plenty of food options in walking distance. The beach was our favorite part walking each day! Spectacular views, friendly locals, and sunsets that begged to be photographed. We have already booked our return trip!
