About this property
Cute and quaint country cottage in the heart of Omeo Victoria.
Cute and quaint little two bedroom cottage with a great view and large secure backyard. Quiet location, close to local shops, amenities and walking tracks, stones throw from the iconic Golden Age motel who serve a great meal, as well as a cold beer or wine. Perfect for a family or couple, your pets are also welcome. Also suitable for people passing through town for work or anyone wanting somewhere cosy to stay on the way to the ski fields, which are approximately 40 kms away. The house and yard is all yours to enjoy. The main heater is powerful for cold winter nights (during winter it's recommended that you turn it on early to give the house a chance to heat up), and the aircon is awesome during blistering summer days. Of course nothing beats the fire place located in the main lounge (wood provided). There are also additional heaters for the bedrooms during particularly cold days/nights, as well as cosy blankets. The yard is large and fully secured by a fence and gates, so it is perfect for small Children and pets. Once you park your car in the garage, there is no need to drive during your stay in Omeo - everything in town is within walking distance. The snow fields (beautiful in all seasons) are closer to Omeo than Bright. The people in the town are friendly and welcoming. The main access point for the house is at the rear - it is best to park your cars in the garage or in the street behind (address provided upon booking). Do not park on the grass in the winter months, or you will get bogged! The block is on a gentle slope, it is not appropriate for people with serious mobility issues. At the back door, there are some remaining concrete steps, from when the house was originally built, which are steep and you should be mindful of this. There is an additional side entry point to the back door (the opposite end of the retaining wall to where the steps are). If you have any concerns please contact Mel directly prior to your stay. There is a Porta cot and high chair for infants upon request. Linen and towels, crockery and cutlery are provided, as is coffee, plunger and instant as well as tea. We have pest control systems in place - traps and bait are set in a safe place, out of reach of children. If you require more information, please contact your host. Dogs are most welcome. However, please be courteous of future guests and keep them off the furniture and out of the bedrooms. Please clean up the yard after your pets before vacating the property. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve the quality of our hospitality, please let us know. If you have a negative experience, please contact Mel directly before leaving a bad review: I will make every effort to take on feedback to make the Omeo Miners Cottage an enjoyable and relaxing experience. Please note the kitchen roof has a small sagging section from a past leak, it has been repaired and inspected by a builder and is completely safe and sound.

Cute comfortable cottage right in Omeo, short walk to a good pub. Yard is fenced which was great for out work trailer. Its our 2nd visit to this property and will come back again.
This is an awesome place to stay, we bring our dogs and the yard is clean and safe for them outside also. Perfectly comfortable for 4 people to stay, spotlessly clean and we will be back! (Again)Thanks Mel!
The house is well located just 2 mins walk from bakery and restaurant. Nice view out from living room and front porch. The wood fireplace is a really nice touch in cold winter!
A lovely quaint cottage that is situated right in the middle of Omeo town making it a very easy walking distance to the coffee shops, local Grocery shop and hotel the for dinner ( which were amazing meals).
The cottage has all your basic needs for a stay and the wash/dryer in the laundry was much appreciated.
Beautiful accommodation across the road from the pub. We had a last minute booking and our host couldn’t have been more helpful… esp considering we had our 2 fur babies with us!!! Fully fenced property, very comfortable house!! Cannot recommend highly enough!!!! Will def stay here again on our next visit to this stunning part of Australia.
Cottage was behind the pub...just few 100meters up from mtb trailhead and close to supermarket etc. Perfect for our family and little dog. Fenced in ....for dog. Toys/books for kids..Kitchen was well equipped Overall we loved it and will be back
We so enjoyed our stay at Omeo. The cottage was well equipped and warm with excellent heating and even a fire laid ready for us. It was an easy walk to explore the historic and quirky town of Omeo. Plenty of chi
Drens books and toys kept our 3yo happy too. We,were an easy drive to the snow for snowplay also.
We booked this lovely cottage as it was dog friendly and close to the snow. It kept us so nice and warm with the heater in the lounge room. The town has nice bakeries and everything is walking distance. If I ever go to the snow again I'd definitely love to book again. Thank you!
Host also checked in on us and was a pleasure to have a chat to!
Our family enjoyed our stay very much. The house is positioned very close to shops and was clean and tidy. In addition to this, Mel had the place nicely heated for our arrival. Plenty of games to play in the evening and the shops are within walking distance so we were able to go for some nice walks and visit some of the local retailers. People were all very friendly.

Snug and cosy are good descriptors of this old cottage. Yes, it is old,but it is very comfortable and the owners have provided just about anything you may wish for. Right in the town , and just behind the pub, makes it ideal if you want a meal or drink plus just a stones throw away are great cafe's and they make a mean coffee. Parking is out the back with a garage if you want to use it. That is a good idea on very cold mornings as your windows are not frosted up. There is a fire and ample wood or the split system to keep you warm. The fire is great for ambience. Great value and a great place to stay.
We had a lovely stay at the house however we were a little upset by the rat poison hidden under the master bed & in the kitchen.
The house is listed as pet friendly but it didnt take long before our dogs found the poison. Luckily we saw it at the same time but it left us a bit nervous incase we had missed any. The house is in a rurual area so we understand rodents can be a problem but there a lots of gaps to outside that they can get through & there is a lot of rodent droppings at the back of the cupboards.
This aside the house is lovely, cosy & otherwise very clean.
Mel was very responsive and provided clear access instructions for the property. Cosy and comfortable stay with everything within walking distance (MTB park, shops and cafes). There was also a large well maintained and enclosed yard for our dog to run around in which was great.
