Chris reached out as soon as I booked to confirm everything. He checked back in as the trip approached and ensured an easy check-in process. Chris also checked on us (via text) during our stay. The rental is exactly as described and was just right for our family getaway.
Lots of thoughtful touches throughout. USB connections in each room.Fantastic tropical garden setting.
Very quiet. Friendly and interesting owner. Highly recommended!
Could not have had a more pleasant stay! Host Chris was welcoming and helpful. The location was quiet and near everything I needed. Unit was clean, cozy and had all the amenities. The patio area was amazing!!!! Thank you for a lovely stay, highly recommend!
A private, comfortable and eclectic property. Chris is a super-host and was very attentive to ensure my stay was great! Outdoor space was private and a fun place to chill. Thanks!
I stayed 4 nights. The place is clean, updated, and quiet. If the weather had been better I would have taken advantage of the awesome patio area. Communication was awesome. I would definitely recommend this place.
Chris is a gracious host. Even had a bar of chocolate waiting for me. 😁Property is clean, quiet, with a gorgeous outdoor area. Was just a 1.6 mile jog to the beach. Highly recommend!
Small and cozy. Lovely setting. You may think you are in the tropics! Everything you may need was provided. Very very quiet neighborhood. Easy to get around. I highly recommend this location
Loooooved my stay at Kaza Kokos! I came down for about a week for a work/surf trip, which worked out really well. The pace is beautiful, really amazing artistic detail - Chris has great taste! Clean, cozy, really great communication on all fronts, and just an all around fabulous stay. I highly recommend this space and will definitely stay here if I'm back in the area. Thank you, Chris!
Chris is a kind generous host, there when you need him yet fully respects your privacy. When I mentioned that it would be nice to have a little hot plate so we could have eggs for breakfast, he said he doesn’t encourage cooking in the room but he’d bring me the bbq. Next thing I know there’s the bbq and a banquet table with a nice table cloth with bbq utensils, cookware, plates and silverware in the Japanese inspired courtyard! The rooms have comfy cozy beds with soft sheets and off the bathroom there’s a mini, expertly designed corner with a refrigerator, microwave, electric tea kettle, toaster, spices…. He thought of everything! I will definitely stay here anytime I return to the area.
We stayed nearly a week in Oceanside at Kaza Kokos. We rented both bedrooms and everything was fantastic. The rooms are well furnished, very clean and comfortable. Much better than staying at a hotel in my opinion. The Fire Hill neighborhood is a great spot to explore the entire area. Just two minutes to get to the beach and also the highway if heading into San Diego. Very quiet and the outdoor space is a huge bonus as very comfortable, spacious and peaceful to hang out. Perhaps the best part of the entire stay is the host, Chris! His communication was prompt and friendly from the start. He made sure we were clear on the check-in process and even checked up on us a few times during our stay to see if we needed anything at all. Overall, a great place at a great price.
Queit retreat minutes from the beach! My wife and I came out for a relaxing weekend away before our first was born and we couldn't have asked for better! The host was very welcoming and the room and patio are quiet and private.
We were only down for a few days and Kaza kokos was a perfect spot. The host is very communicative and goes out of their way to ensure everything is perfect. Gorgeous Patio area and very clean indoors and out.
Chris is an AMAZING host. The property is quaint and unique. The home is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood located within minutes from where you want to go. If you need time away from reality in a quaint tropical getaway, this is for you.
We absolutely loved our stay! Everything we could possibly have needed was there including bikes for us to explore the city (way less expensive than renting bikes from a company). The patio was brilliant and exactly what we were looking for. IF we come back to Oceanside, we will absolutely be staying here again.
Relaxing stay near the ocean with a top-flight host!
Owner Chris Kokotos offers a relaxed and serene experience at his Kaza Kokos rental property in Oceanside, CA. Chris is the consummate host. A day before arrival, I received a text from Chris welcoming our family to his home and asking when we were planning to arrive so that he could make sure to greet us to show us around. Chris made himself available throughout our stay and even though the rental property is the back-side of his home with a shared walkway from the driveway to the rental rooms, Chris never violated our privacy on us or made us feel anything but welcomed.
A note on the property itself - the rental space is almost equal size bedrooms and outdoor space. The outdoor space is warm and welcoming and display Chris' personal East Asian sensibility and tastes. Great shade covering and comfortable seating adorn the spacious back area designated for our use. The sleeping rooms and bathroom are well furnished, the beds comfortable with amenities and lots of outlets to plug and charge devices. The kitchenette off the bathroom is small but functional. If you come expecting to cook a large meal however, the kitchenette probably won't be sufficient, but the sink, fridge and microwave (along with a variety of spices!) were more than adequate for our family's needs.
The property itself sits up on the hillside overlooking the ocean and the town. One drawback is that access to the main town center of Oceanside is a short drive (or bike ride) away rather than a walk. Nonetheless, the house is in a very nice neighborhood and we enjoyed the feeling of being part of a community while we stayed here. San Diego is a 25-30 minute drive down I-5 - far enough that you will want to plan your visits into San Diego accordingly. We enjoyed having the distance while retaining the option to visit San Diego's many fine restaurants, breweries, beaches and the Zoo.
Overall, a great experience.
First time in California we had a great experience, couldn’t use the upstairs deck for some reason while other guest were allowed to. The best part about this location was the outside patio. Host was available when needed.
Chris was an AMAZING host. He was there when I arrived and even took me to the local store (which was like a family-owned Whole Foods) to get some food after a long flight.
The room itself was clean and cozy. The pictures don't do it justice. The patio is super detail oriented, HUGE and relaxing!
There's so much greenery and sunlight and cozy places to sit and relax. It's especially great for morning coffee in the sun with the birds.
At one point, my grocery bags were delivered by the fence and it started raining, so Chris moved them under cover for me.
The location itself is 1 mile from the beach and an adorable beachfront cafe. I loved walking there every morning and taking in the sights, knowing at the end of my walk, the cafe and ocean would be right there waiting for me! There are plenty of sidewalks so the walk is safe.
You will NOT find a more hospitable place to stay, and you can't beat the price. I will be back! Thanks, Chris!
