Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Nuraxi Figus?
The best area to stay in Nuraxi Figus is the immediate vicinity of the Nuraghe itself, or the nearby coastal towns for beach access.

For travellers keen on exploring the ancient history of Sardinia, staying near the Nuraghe di Nuraxi Figus is ideal. While not a bustling town centre, this area provides direct access to the significant archaeological site, allowing for early morning or late afternoon visits when it's less crowded. Accommodation here typically consists of agriturismo properties or guesthouses, offering a tranquil base with local charm.

Couples or small groups looking for a relaxing beach holiday combined with cultural exploration will find the coastal town of Fontanamare an excellent option. It's just a short drive from Nuraxi Figus and boasts a beautiful sandy beach, superb for unwinding. The town itself has a relaxed atmosphere with a few local eateries and offers lovely views of the Sardinian coastline.

Alternatively, for those seeking a bit more in terms of amenities and dining options, the larger town of Gonnesa is a practical choice. It's still very close to Nuraxi Figus and offers a wider selection of shops, restaurants, and accommodation types, from hotels to holiday rentals.
When is the best time to go to Nuraxi Figus?
The best time to go to Nuraxi Figus is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for exploring the beaches and archaeological sites without the intense heat and larger crowds of July and August. You'll find the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the natural landscapes are at their most inviting.

For couples looking for a relaxing holiday, these periods provide a more intimate experience. You can enjoy quiet strolls along the coast, dine at local restaurants without needing reservations far in advance, and explore historical sites like the Nuraghe di Nuraxi Figus at your own pace.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the milder temperatures, making outdoor activities more comfortable for everyone.
