Staff were lovely, and attentive, and tried their best to accomodate. Reception wasn’t really helpful at times, but the cleaning staff and dining staff were. Breakfast was delicious!

Friendly staff, building needs work.
This place needs work. The staff are friendly and the restaurant downstairs is good for vegetarian options. The building itself feels like a place someone has either inherited or overpaid and they're not quite sure which market they are going for. If I were them, I would concentrate on a few rooms, replace the appliances, fix the towel racks etc and progressively renovate.

I would say this is an ok place to spend a night. Unlike a lot of places in Tonga, I wouldn’t drink the water there. We had to ask for things like water, shampoo, etc. that were complimentary at other hotels. Pretty run down. My room had a broken sink bowl and the facet was so loose I had to hold it with one hand and turn it on/off with the other. The morning ride was ordered in time but there was no way to order an early breakfast. Friendly but we had to wake the night watchman up to help us with our bags. Won’t stay again but as I said, in a pinch it is ok for 1 night.

To say this place is "dilapidated" is an understatement. I was ready to check out the moment I walked in to my room. HOWEVER, if a beachfront (balcony) room with a GREAT bed, HOT shower and super lovely staff are important to you, then give this place a go. There's so much to do in Nuku'alofa, that the rest doesn't matter.

My daughter & I really enjoyed our stay at the Emerald. The staff were very friendly, the Asian meal from their restaurant was v nice & it was worth while paying extra for the ocean view room

Hi Stephane. We're terribly sorry that your experience with us was as your description. We would have made your 1x night stay with us to be as pleasant as if you were in a 5Star hotel if you had promptly escalated your concerns to any of our staff as we're very responsive when any of our Guests raises a concern. But you probably did not have time to as it was of essence to you given that your duration of stay was only a night. All our rooms have both hot and cold water and wifi. We would of kindly assisted instantly if you had let us know right away to ensure these concerns are promptly resolved. Again, we're terribly sorry that this was your experience whilst staying with us. We highly appreciate your constructive feedback as this will help us in a way to be more attentive and directive in the future to ensure our Guests won't ever get to feel this way. Best on your endeavors.

Was quite dusty when we first arrived and noisy by the main road. Door to balcony didnt open easily but we got it moving. Extra bed was quite hard and frame was rusty. Staff were nice, we had lots of queries which they handled for us. Good location for town and was a good place to just chill in the evenings

Overall very disappointed in the condition of the hotel. And disappointed in expedia for refusing cancellation of my booking even though the hotel was not up to standards of what they were advertising. The photos they shared on their app is outdated. Their is rust and corrosion on the balcony rails, barely hanging on making it unsafe. And cabinets being eaten by termites. Will not book again n reconsidering using this app in future as well.

The nicest staff on the Friendly Island. Really, the nicest people you can imagine. Helpful with airport transfer, car rental, advice what to see, where to eat, etc. Room was clean, spacious, breakfast included.

Staff were very friendly infact one of the staff brought freshly baked buns for breakfast. The downside is the facility is not well maintained. The doors facing the ocean were broken I couldn't lock them at night. Bad weather made is worse as rain water came into the room.

Great value, comfortable hotel
We could not have asked for better hospitality! The staff and service were excellent. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is centrally located within a short walking distance to the Royal Palace, downtown Nuku'alofa, and Queen Salote's Warf. Overall, the Emerald Hotel is a great value with unbeatable service! Service is great but conditions of the building and room aren't great at all. TV is all Chinese, room doesn't seem clean. Also the room I had, had a light above my bed that would not turn off. Annoying when trying to sleep.
