The Hermit was designed to help you disconnect while still enjoying essential comfort, all within an eco-conscious approach aimed at reducing our environmental footprint. This attention to detail has earned us eco-responsible certification from Les Pages Vertes, following a rigorous evaluation by an independent organization.



As part of our eco-friendly approach, electricity use is intentionally kept to a minimum. You'll still enjoy everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a space heater, mini refrigerator, espresso machine, and a two-burner electric cooktop.



*** Important New Feature ***

A new heated bathhouse is now available year-round. It features two full bathrooms (each with a shower, toilet, and sink), shared with the two other cabins on the site: The Pilgrim and The Enlightened.



This addition preserves the chalet’s rustic experience while offering an extra level of comfort, no matter the season.



In summer, you can still enjoy the outdoor shower, and for those seeking a fully immersive experience, the original facilities remain available for a complete return to basics.



🚨 Damage Protection – Peace of Mind Included 🚨

To offer you a seamless experience, accidental damage protection is included through a fixed nightly amount.



It replaces the traditional security deposit and covers eligible accidental damages up to USD $50,000 for qualifying stays.* Very few properties offer this level of protection.

Because true luxury also means peace of mind. 😇



Although the protection generally replaces the security deposit, we reserve the right to require an additional deposit in specific situations evaluated on a case-by-case basis. This measure remains rare and preventive.

Imagine spending the afternoon lying in the hammock under the covered terrace, savoring the tranquility after reading your favorite book. Here, the greatest entertainment is found outdoors: a sky full of stars, the surrounding forest, and the soothing crackle of the fire naturally replace screens and distractions.



To preserve the peaceful atmosphere, safety, and natural environment of the property, ATVs are not permitted on the site. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain the peaceful experience our guests come here to enjoy. 🌿



Notre-Dame-des-Bois is located in the heart of the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve, which promises absolutely magical evenings around the fire under a sky bursting with a thousand stars 🤩

You'll be 35 min from Lac-Mégantic and 50 min from Sherbrooke.

The Hermit shares its beautiful natural setting with two other retreats on the same property: The Enlightened and The Pilgrim.

You can therefore book multiple chalets and enjoy your getaway together while still giving everyone their own space.

***** PLEASE NOTE *****

There is no bathroom inside the chalet. However, you’ll have access to a restroom facility located on the lot next to the cabin, which is open year-round and shared with the other two cabins on the property. It includes two full bathrooms (with showers and toilets) for your convenience. Please bring your own towels and biodegradable soap so you can enjoy it 🙂 An outdoor dry toilet remains available near the chalet for those who wish to enjoy the rustic yet comfortable experience. The outdoor shower (from June through September) is also still accessible. The chalet is equipped with a mini refrigerator, a two-burner electric cooktop, a wood stove, and an outdoor fire pit, giving you everything you need to prepare delicious meals while enjoying the simplicity of cabin living. Rechargeable lanterns and candles are provided to create a warm and cozy atmosphere. The chalet features only one sleeping area on the mezzanine with 2 double beds (mattresses with hygienic covers): you must bring your own bedding.

Guest Access:

The chalet is entirely private for your use, while certain outdoor facilities (including the heated bathhouse, outdoor shower, and 2 EV chargers) are shared with the two other chalets on the property.



Other Things to Note:

The house guide as well as instructional messages will be sent to you after booking to simplify the arrival process as much as possible and allow you to properly plan the activities of your stay.
