"Hotel was good overall, very busy hotel. Pool was a great addition although not the most heated, public areas were worn out in places such as carpets frayed. Rooms were not sound proof, you could hear noises from other rooms. Breakfast extremely busy at all times. Limited selection for a buffet breakfast."

Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay

"The main lobby area was beautiful. Nice stroll to the wharf and aquarium area. Our room keys got deactivated after one night and we had to trek all the way to the front lobby to get them rekeyed as the rooms are pretty far. No apologies or reason was given, that was a bit of a negative interaction with the staff. We enjoyed that there was a Carmel bakery right on site."

"Room was clean, bed very comfortable. Pillows were feather and flat, so it depends on your preference whether you would like them. Area was safe, but be aware you are very close to the homeless district. Great skyview bar and main floor market/sandwich shop in the lobby. Walking distance to lots of great places and the cable cars. Would definitely stay again. Make sure you plan your parking prior to arrival!"

"Room very clean. Free coffee(varieties) and cookies available all the time. Very friendly staff. We left our suitcase there and roamed around the city even after check our."

"Walking distance from Boardwalk was very convenient. The room and bed were huge, it had all the amenities necessary. The bad thing (for me as a short person)π too many stairs. At night not enough parking spaces.π Also the vending machines need to get fixed or have more options. Overall I would recommend πThe cleaning ladies were very nice.π"

"I loved this hotel, it was close to the boardwalk and the wharf, prime location. The staff were great and very friendly, and the actual look of the hotel was beautiful, so many stunning details to this hotel. The only downside was that we only stayed one night. I will definitely be back to enjoy the hotel for longer next time."
