About this property
Cozy and bright shoreline studio apartment - walk to beach and row to boat
122 Sauga Avenue is located in the tucked away neighborhood of Shore Acres on Sauga Point. Founded over one hundred years ago, this quiet, coastal gem meets the warm summer waters of Narragansett Bay and Wickford Harbor. Watching the sunrise from Blue Beach (just one block away) You can view the calm morning waters of the West Passage and witness the beauty and tranquility that caught the attention of Rhode Island’s first settlers four centuries ago. With summers stretching through September and waters remaining warm above seventy degrees Sauga Point is a small New England paradise. The area allows for great sailing and all water sports with easy access to the towns and villages Newport, Wickford, Jamestown, Westerly and Narragansett. Ferries connect to Martha’s Vinyard and Block Island daily from Quonset Point just down the road, or from Point Judith and the port of Galilee. On the opposite shore of Our small peninsula is the neighborhood boat ramp that Accesses Wickford harbor and Mill Cove. With some quick research you may pick up a guest mooring or slip at one of the many Wharfs or Marinas that are also the Mariners gateway to the historic village. Our house is located a few minutes walk from the ramp where you can come ashore from the well protected mooring field. We have our own family history here as well. This is where we learned to sail, swim and experience all the greatness of this area. Our Dad, Joseph did the same as a boy who then became a sailing Captain of the sea. Years ago he recognized the “perfect place to live” from his boat. He rowed to the ramp, walked up the street and then discovered a corner home with a little garage in the back. Dad always loved things that “needed a little work” so 122 Sauga became his new home ashore. The garage has always been referred to as “Snorks Place”. Named so by the painted words over the door of the soon-to-be workshop that always needed work of its own. Dad rebuilt the house and after that, replaced the work shack with a top floor apartment. The apartment is still named Snorks Place or just Snorks as our family and friends refer to it. Dad built Snorks as a cozy and bright get away nest with the feel of a ships cabin with wood floors and galley kitchenette. A Murphy Bed allows for the enlargement of floor space when needed as well as the Head (small bathroom). and lots of windows for great natural light. many of these features always remind us of the boats we grew up sailing. Our Pop loved to share the amazing experiences of land and sea to all those who adventured as well as educating and guiding those who would become Adventurers. Dad would say “Welcome aboard”! We say Welcome to Snorks!

First time using vrbo and it was a great experience. It was very clean, the owners were very nice! I was very happy staying there and wish I could’ve stayed longer.
My husband and I stayed here to attend a festival in Newport. It was perfect! Clean, easy to get in and out of and the perfect amount of room for a couple.
We were in RI for my daughter’s boyfriends graduation from OCS training at the naval base. Location was very convenient in relation to the base. Very clean. Would stay again.
This is on a small but very nice sandy beach in a quiet neighborhood. Pictures are accurate and size works for 2 people. The neighborhood has many right of ways to the beach which we loved. A great Rhode Island getaway.
The room was clean and comfortable. Had everything I needed. It is small, but perfect for one or two people. The neighborhood was cute and quiet, and the beach is a five minute walk away. Homeowner was very easy to work with and flexible. I would definitely stay there again!
Traveled to RI with a friend and had a great stay in this cute little apartment. Parking and check-in both super easy. Apartment is tiny but was all we needed. The murphy bed was a little uncomfortable (thin mattress I guess) and the bathroom shower is very tiny but all in all we had a nice time. It's in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We loved the short walk to the beach where we could sit and hang out.
We were down for the Newport Jazz Festival, and this was the perfect base camp. We're sorry we didn't make it down to the beach. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty. The apartment was very clean and comfy. It's a great location for the state beaches, Newport, and the adorable Wickford village is nearby. Our host Steve was very responsive!
Property managers were really responsive and easy to communicate with. They went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and welcomed in the space. I felt more than safe in the neighborhood and enjoyed the beach access!
Cute little over the garage space. S. Perfect for two people and a short weekend.

A lovely, comfortable space, in a beautiful neighborhood. Beach just a few steps away. Stephan was a great host, and the amenities and thoughtful touches made our stay pleasant and special. Highly reccommended.
It was exactly as I had seen in pictures online. It was very clean and had everything I needed. Response to questions was quick and thorough. Very private and safe neighborhood. Ideal for one person or one couple. I highly recommend this accommodation.
Apartment was exactly as pictured, perfect for our needs. Private and quiet neighborhood, murphy bed was comfortable, hosts were very nice. Lots of space, although the layout spreads the storage around so takes a little thought to fully utilize. A prior review noted the lack of a TV, this has been fixed, there is a TV with Roku (and a nicely stocked bookshelf for the rainy day). Bathroom is a little tight, but has everything you need other than counter space. Walk to cute beach, small but uncrowded. Would love to stay here again, much nicer than a hotel and cheaper as well.
Our stay in Stephen’s studio apartment was great. The apartment is small, but well equipped. The Murphy bed was comfortable enough. The neighborhood where the home is located is very nice. The location is convenient to shopping. The beach is nearby, but the weather while we were there was not conducive to beach going. The one item missing, which I failed to appreciate, was a television. Since we did not spend much time there, it was not an issue. However, I failed to notice there was no TV in the list of amenities. This was my mistake, not something deliberately left out of the listing. There is Wi-Fi, so streaming would have been possible. We enjoyed our stay there, and would consider staying there again if we were in the area in the future.
