The hotel is old. Pictures are nice online but once you get inside it could be deceiving. The carpet is old, the shower curtains need changing, the fridge is old and dirty. Need new doors and the hall smelled old. The room was clean. Need a make over.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn in Newport News was one of the worst on our US roadtrip. We had to change rooms during our 2 day stay because of non-working door-locks. The entire facility is poorly maintained. Bedlinen are dirty, all family members had bites from bedbugs all over their bodies after our stay there. Rooms are not well cleaned, ACs are dirty and full of dust. Breakfast is average, nothing special. Cannot compare to Holiday Inn Hotels here in Europe, a house like this would have had its operating licence revoked long ago here.

I was asked if I wanted my room cleaned, I agreed, but it wasn’t done. There were brown spots on my shower curtain. I asked that it be changed. So, housekeeping came in the room to change the shower curtain, but didn’t clean the room.

In the bathroom of my room, there was mold growing around the shower. I have photos if you’d like to see them. The sink was dirty upon my arrival. When brought up to the staff, they said they were aware and have previously submitted it to management. The room was dusty and had not been properly cleaned in a while.

Overall the hotel is clean. The hotel has some really nice amenities such as the pool, weight room and continental breakfast. Very quiet location and close to some restaurants and fuel stations. We were disappointed about the pool temperature though. For an indoor pool is was kept quite chilly. The other issue was that the breakfast, as it had many options was late opening. This affects guests getting to and from jobs or even picking up ubers. The room rate was a little high considering being really off season. Stays at the beachfront are cheaper. Reasons we gave 4 rating.

I booked the 2 double-bed suite. The fabric on all of the chairs were stained and discolored. Simply put -- they looked dirty. I flipped the cushions on the couch and found an uncomfortable amount of food crumbs. Several tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked or uneven. The soap and lotion pumps by the sink were clogged. When I pressed down on one of the pumps -- the liquid flew outward (instead of downward) and stained my shirt. Perhaps the most alarming thing happened during breakfast. I went to grab a milk for my young son and discovered that ALL of the milk containers were expired by 3 days!

stayed here for one night while traveling for work and was very disappointed. Room was FLITHY dirty bathroom, pill and hair on the floor, stained carpet, and even a bug on the nightstand and curtain. I switched rooms, but the new one was still not properly clean. For a brand that promises comfort and cleanliness, this was unacceptable. I will not be staying here again. I’ve stay at other locations and didn’t experience this. This is zero stars.
