About this property
Luxury Spacious Apartment, Sleeps 4
THIS sumptuous 2-bed duplex apartment offers a stunning living space 2 miles from the city centre. Lovingly-restored century-old Tyneside flat with double attic bedroom, large attic lounge (with kitchenette), shower room and downstairs twin bedroom. Old meets new in this Victorian terraced building - the heritage of this century-old Tyneside flat has been lovingly recreated, but with a modern twist. You are spoilt for choice for public transport - 10 minutes into the city, the MetroCentre, and a short walk from Gateshead itself. Our apartment, named Docker's Digs, has been designed and decorated to reflect the industrial heritage of the North East. We have completed a sympathetic restoration of this Victorian building, with revitalised heritage furniture coupled with unique hand-made pieces, and pieces of modern artwork from the nearby Baltic Arts centre. We provide luxury mattresses and towels and Egyptian cotton white bed linen. We want every minute of your stay to be in a memorable and comfortable apartment. You will be provided with fresh towels, two pillows for each bed (firm and soft), while there is a private sink and mirror in both bedrooms. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are provided,

Loved that we were a short walk from the bus that took us to all the sites: Downtown Newcastle, The Baltic and Sage Gateshead, etc. Surprise discovery in nearby Saltwell Park with its bird-topped lake, cafe, ice cream truck, rose garden, loads of lawns and walkways. The "Tyneside Flat" was perfect for us two and would have housed a couple friends too!
The kitchenette was perfect for our week stay and we enjoyed coffee and sunrise. Liked the little fireplace-style heater in the living space and the TV worked easily and clear.
Dylan's communication was exceptional throughout. He was patient with us as we had to adjust our stay and was quick to respond when we had questions. Very kind and professional.
Would certainly recommend this spot and hope to return ourselves.
Dinky little flat in a residential area of gateshead. Although I never met Dylan in person his comms were spot on we had no trouble accessing the property. He was available for any issues if needed. The flat is about a 20 minute walk into the centre of gateshead where you can access the metro. Although a bus route is nearby we walked where possible and Newcastle is also easily accessible either on foot or by the metro. The only slight issue is that its an attic flat so if your tall like me you have to watch your head. Its only a kitchenette but we tended to eat out.
Property well situated for local amenities. Flat is well laid out. Host was easy to contact if needed. Nicely furnished. Very comfortable shed and brilliant shower.
Gateshead Docker's Cottage near abundance of parks and North East transport networks
My son (8) and I enjoyed our time in the Docker's cottage. We were impressed by the record player, Netflix availability and what we could do on the small tabletop hob. We enjoyed the art around the house and the clock shaped like a ship wheel. We found a number of local parks and enjoyed these and wrote to the council praising the equipment and upkeep. We also enjoyed a visit to the swimming baths that was only about 10 minutes walk away. Local amenities - shops and bus routes - were excellent. We walked the streets and felt safe and found our way easily. North East transport links were impressive and we travelled on bus, metro and ferry on a day ticket which was very reasonable. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was exactly the right size for us. We visited South Shields, Whitley Bay, Newcastle and Gateshead for the cinema. We enjoyed South Shields fun fair and pier, ice cream and sand in Whitley Bay, the Vue the cinema in Gateshead was brand new and only £5 per head. The sound system in there was excellent.
We couldn't cool the apartment below 24C and I struggled to sleep on the top floor due to the heat. We have similar issues with our attic at home (but then my son just sleeps on a floor lower). This was not possible here. I had trouble shutting the bathroom window but managed to shift it when the rain was torrential one night. Was very stiff though.
Overall a lovely base and place to explore from. Thanks very much for your hospitality.
My sister and I had a great stay at Dylan’s property. The check in directions were easy to follow and everything was simple to find. We stayed in the upper apartment with two rooms. The rooms were decently sized with twin beds downstairs and a queen upstairs. The kitchenette area and bathroom were not made for tall or large people my any means, but we didn’t mind. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything we needed was included. We walked about 1/4 mile to a larger grocery store, however there is a small convenience store just outside the apartment. It was a very quiet location with stunning views. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

Beautifully designed, comfortable and clean apartment in a safe quiet area. Lovely!
This is a lovely quirky place to stay. The owner has some great design attention that makes this not only a really nice place to stay but with heritage surrounding it. The accommodation is really comfortable, especially the beds, and very clean. The street is very quiet and safe with plenty of parking. It is very accessible to Newcastle/Gateshead and further public transport options so you wouldn't really need a car. Overall this is a really excellent base to explore the region and the owner is very helpful should you need it.

Lovely apartment, would highly recommend.
We stayed at this apartment for almost a month and it was a lovely home away from home. Although it is small, for the purpose of our stay in Newcastle this place was perfect. The decor and appliances available were all we needed (except of course a washing machine, but this wasnt such an issue). The cleaners kept the place well maintained and the area was easily accessible to/from the city centre with a quick taxi trip. Great place to stay and we would highly recommend this property.

Great apartment!
I really enjoyed my stay!
The apartment is within walking distance of Saltwell Park and Gateshead Centre, with plenty of on street parking.
It's well looked after, with modern facilities and a comfortable homely feel. We particularly appreciated the cookies and we enjoyed listening to some of the vinyls.
Overall a really pleasant environment which i would thoroughly recommend.

Great stay in Newcastle
Me and three of my friends had a brilliant stay at Dockers Digs. It was the perfect home away from home and a great base for exploring Newcastle. There is a shop at the end of the road which we found really handy for picking up last minute items. The rooms were all spacious and had all the essentials you need.

Real Gateshead
Well located in a quiet corner of Gateshead close to Saltwell Park and Theatre. A ten minute drive to Newcastle centre. The apartment was cosy, very clean and beautifully decorated. Kitchen has microwave, toaster and kettle only for cooking. The area is full of great places to eat and buy food from a variety of cultures. Great base to explore the North.

Beautiful Quirky Apartment!
My sister and I came to visit friends at Newcastle Uni. The photos of this place looked great online but it's even better when you see it for real. The owners have created a really individual apartment - it's very well specced out and a comfy retreat. Just 5 mins in a taxi into the city centre, but the furnishings are so nice we just stayed in one night, had a takeaway and watched the TV! Great value considering the place is like a quirky boutique hotel. Docker's Digs is a bit different, and I can recommend 100 per cent. Will certainly try to rebook next time we are in Newcastle.

Great place to stay!
This was a great place to stay - wow, so comfortable and with a little bit of luxury. Like a hotel, but with more privacy and space, and a lovely neat little kitchen. It was a treat to stay - it’s a great base to explore Newcastle - we stayed for 5 nights here (then had a couple of nights at Dylan’s other cottage up the Northumberland coast at Seahouses). While at Docker’s Digs we just hopped on and off the bus into the city centre, about 10 minutes. Loved the decor - the double bedroom is so quiet and the bed really comfy. The attic living room is a bit special, though. Really unusual bits of furniture and art on the walls - so cozy, great flatscreen TV, and great views of the lit-up church and the hills beyond at night. Nice park nearby for walks too - will definitely be back.
