  • Summary:

Discover the charm of The Station Cottage, a beautiful house located in the tranquil village of Lintz Green. This inviting holiday home boasts a fantastic location, offering easy access to local attractions and the natural beauty of County Durham. Featuring three well-appointed bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a range of modern amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and a cosy living area, the cottage provides everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

    The Space:

Nestled in the peaceful village of Lintz Green, within the grounds of a former railway station, this charming semi-detached holiday home offers the perfect blend of history, comfort, and rural tranquillity. With access to the scenic Derwent Walk nearby, guests can enjoy breathtaking viaduct views and endless countryside strolls - a haven for families, friends, and dog walkers alike.

Just under two miles away, the friendly village of Rowlands Gill provides shops and eateries, while days out can be filled with nearby attractions such as Gibside Hall, the world-famous Beamish Living Museum, and the iconic Hadrian’s Wall. For city adventures, vibrant Newcastle upon Tyne with its Quayside and Baltic Centre is just 10 miles away, and the historic city of Durham lies less than 15 miles from your door.

Inside, the home is both spacious and welcoming. A light-filled lounge with wood flooring, comfortable seating, and a feature exposed-brick wall with flatscreen TV invites cosy evenings in, enhanced by an electric wood-burner style heater. French doors lead to the patio, while the adjoining conservatory offers a calm spot to soak up the garden views.

The well-equipped kitchen/diner makes family meals easy, complete with electric oven, hob, built-in microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher.

Sleeping up to six guests (and welcoming two dogs), the property is designed with comfort in mind. The ground floor double bedroom features generous storage and there is access to a modern shower room.

Upstairs, you’ll find a charming twin room with ensuite bathroom, and a second double bedroom with its own ensuite shower room - perfect for families or groups seeking both privacy and convenience.

Outdoors, the enclosed garden is a true delight, incorporating part of the original station platform wall and providing a unique backdrop for al fresco dining or birdwatching. The patio is ideal for summer meals, while the peaceful garden offers a relaxing retreat after a day’s exploring.

Whether you’re here to walk, explore, or simply unwind, this welcoming holiday home offers a memorable base for your North East getaway.

    Guest Access:

Guests have access to the full property.

Access to The Station Cottage is via a key safe box. Further details will be provided prior to check-in.

Off-road parking is available for two cars, with one space on the driveway and another carefully allocated in front of the cottage (accessed via a farm-style track).

Please note that, due to the location of The Station Cottage, the WiFi can be intermittent.

    The Neighborhood:

Tucked away in the peaceful Derwent Valley, Lintz Green offers the perfect balance of countryside charm and easy access to local attractions. The area is known for its leafy walking trails, scenic views, and the famous Lintz Green Railway Station, steeped in history. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the nearby Derwent Walk Country Park, a haven for wildlife and ideal for walking, cycling, or simply soaking up the fresh air.

Despite its rural feel, Lintz Green is conveniently located just a short drive from lively towns and cities. The vibrant market town of Consett is nearby for shopping and dining, while the historic city of Durham - with its stunning cathedral and castle - is only around 30 minutes away. Head east and you can enjoy the cultural attractions and nightlife of Newcastle upon Tyne, while the breathtaking landscapes of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lie to the west.

With a mix of tranquillity, heritage, and accessibility, Lintz Green is the perfect base for guests wanting to explore both the beauty of the Durham countryside and the energy of the North East.
