Bees Knees in the Trees Tiny Home -Hot Tub & Sauna

Private, peaceful & super cute tiny home in the woods, only 5 minutes to downtown Nelson. Cozy up on the cuddle chair, enjoy a wood burning stove and forest view. Use our mountain spring hot tub or book a woodfired sauna (+$50) & cold plunge for the ultimate Kootenay relax & refresh. Climb the ladder into the loft bedroom with queen size bed, book collection & fibre internet. Outside fireplace, full shower, plus hiking, biking & skiing trails nearby. Find your happy place at our mountain retreat The Bees Knees in the Trees Tiny Home is a private cabin that shares 6 acres with our home. The tiny house is the perfect place to relax and unwind. It has lots of homey comforts including board games, a library of good books, yoga mats, cookware and kitchen essentials (fridge, kettle, french press, toaster oven and hot plate, but no microwave or TV because it's Nelson!). Bring your laptop and enjoy fast and reliable 1gps fibre internet. A couch-friendly laptop station provided. You'll snuggle up on a cozy cuddle chair from a wood fired stove, looking out into the forest. Climb the ladder up to the sleeping loft, fitted with shelves full of books and a comfy full queen bed. The bathroom has a full shower and saniflow flush toilet. You'll have free access to a shared hot tub located behind the main house off the deck. You can also book an unforgettable woodfired sauna experience (with natural mountain spring cold plunge that runs Nov-Jul) for an additional set up and cleaning fee. You are going to love it. We provide travel guides of the local area, magazines and useful resources to help you make the most of your time in Nelson. We are on hand to answer questions you might have about the area. Note that this is a rustic-chic cabin with some limits in terms of access and amenities compared to city life. You'll need winter tires from Nov-March, it's primarily woodstove heated (free split firewood provided), and very rarely ( in -15c weather or below) the mountain spring water line can freeze if the fire is not lit and/or the tap left dripping - don't worry we'll remind you! There is no A/C, but it stays 5~10 degrees cooler than the city as we are nestled in the woods up Morning Mountain. As it is a small space with a woodstove and a ladder-access loft, it is not ideal for infants or those with mobility challenges. Please read the entire description or reach out before booking if you have any questions or concerns you in any way! The tiny home is in a private part of the 6 acre property, about 100' from the main house and 100' from the neighbours'. Parking is right outside the front door on the sloped driveway, or lower down if you prefer flat parking. We are super close to town, nestled uphill on Morning Mountain in a rural neighbourhood. You'll want to drive or bike into town for most errands. Driving is 4 minutes, Biking is 5 downhill and 15 uphill, walking is 25 down and 30 up (it's steep, but doable if you're fit). E-bikes are an ideal option to get around. NOTE our driveway gets icy in the winter months (December-March) so be sure to travel with winter tires (required in the City of Nelson from October 1 to March 31st). You do not require AWD if you have good tires and can drive in the snow. Always use your parking brake and turn your tires when parked on a hill in any weather! We love to socialize, but know that you probably want your space! Just let us know if you're friendly and want to get to know the locals. Quiet, peaceful rural setting 5 minutes to downtown at the base of Morning Mountain. The property has two creeks that run from March to July. Morning Mountain and Giveout FSR have great mountain biking in the summer - all rideable from the cabin or a quick buzz out if you're driving. It's a very pleasant 25 min walk or 10 minute bike to downtown (uphill and a bit longer on the way back though) spring through fall. Or a 5 minute drive to Baker St. any season. There are no reliable public transit options to our place - taxi is a possibility. Glacier taxi is the only company in town... and are known for being somewhat colourful... A guest book will be provided for you on arrival. We use our own mountain spring for drinking water. It's screened and UV filtered - and it's probably the best water you've ever tasted. Oh, please don't swim in the reservoir ;) The wood stove will be your main source of heat in the winter, but there is a low-wattage heater to take the edge off. We'll provide wood and fire-starters to get it off and running. It will need occasional stoking to keep the place toasty, but the cabin is well insulated and will stay warm overnight. Our flush toilet is a SANIFLO compact macerating toilet. Use like a regular dual-flush toilet (two buttons are on the top left). It grinds the contents, so just be sure that nothing other than TP and waste goes in the bowl. While the space is not primarily set up for pets, we are open to inquiries! It is bring-your-own pet bed and bowls. Frequent family visitors have pet allergies so there is an extra pet cleaning fee. Please confirm that you've read the description and house rules before booking with any pet. There is beautiful wildlife in the trees! This means all attractants must be safely secured in the cabin at night. We back on to Morning Mountain, which is Crown land. This means we get frequent deer, less frequent coyotes and sometimes bears in spring or fall. And lots of wild turkeys! Responsible fires in a cute outdoor fire pit are allowed when there is no fire ban (please check online or with us first!). Fire bans are common from mid-July to September. We have a spare hammock, usually set up in the dry season—or if you'd like to set one up just ask.
