Good, not great.
Beautiful property and grounds, but has started to show wear and tear, which is a shame - because it really is a lovely hotel. Private View from my room was a blind wall, while there was a good view of the lush garden from entrace door. The issue is, opening the curtains to get this garden view will limit your room privacy. So not very practical in design. Rooms are quite spacious however. Ordered ala carte meals, and their service could improve in terms of time and also getting the order-notes correct. They had twiced missed the very simple instructions/ requests I had made. Food could improve in taste too, for the price they charge. The next-door-Jetwing Lagoon offer better meals at a better price. Staff were friendly, decent and welcoming. Overall, can recommend and may return myself, but with hesitations.

Amazing Hotel and Staff
I traveled from Canada July 26, 2021 and booked this hotel for only two days but ended up staying for 2 weeks and would like to mention as to why this hotel is so special to me. The staff members at this hotel were so helpful, polite, courteous and friendly. I was given a beautiful, large clean bedroom. I must say that I had not stayed in any hotel that had such a large room and an en suite. I was very pleased. Its a lovely and peaceful hotel to relax away from the busy city. Arie Lagoon is a beautiful villa type hotel in a beautiful setting with gardens that has lovely rooms with private verandas, the view of the lagoon from the restaurant area is spectacular, It has a large clean pool close to the lagoon and another close to the reception area. Many other amnesties as well. There is a play area for kids as well. The property is immaculately maintained I must say even during this pandemic.One of the best hotels that i have been to and I recommend this hotel to anyone that would like to visit Sri Lanka. You will never be disappointed.The food is amazing. There was a sea food buffet that I enjoyed which had many kind of variety that was delicious.

A modern beautiful and well run hotel. big rooms. friendly people. Only downside is that the location is half an hour by tuk tuk from all else in Negombo.

We really enjoyed out stay at Arie Lagoon. The hotel grounds were very tranquil and peaceful. All of the staff were extremely friendly to us during our entire stay. Even even came back to a crocodile and elephant towel figures in our room! The hotel is in a small village so it’s quiet nearby if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. The only negative experience was when we checked out of the hotel and asked for a tuk tuk to drop us in Negombo beach front. The manager or reception staff ( we are not sure) asked the tuk tuk drivers across the road for a price which offered a price 4 times higher than the actual as we checked through uber. We did say that’s unreal and instead of the hotel staff helping us, they just went back inside without apologising or offering another transport. We ended up finding our own tuk-tuk for the real price and of course tipped our driver. It was just unpleasant to be lied to just because we are tourists. Apart from that everything else really was excellent!

The rooms were spacious, plenty of amenities for the whole family, the pools were quite pleasant and gardens were beautifully maintained. The food options were superb for breakfast.

Arie Lagoon welcomed us with a comfortable transfer from the airport. Initially when we arrived there all staff were welcoming with lovely comfortable and spacious rooms. First day went by with no issues. However we had been given the wrong room and did not complain as this appeared to be their choice. On our second and final night we were asked to pay a substantial amount and/or move room due to a staff error placing us in room which caused a large convenience and put a damper on our stay. Pool area was lovely with suitable sun loungers, attentive waiting staff and good choice of local and western food. Rooms were tidy and clean. Spa available which one of us used for a massage which is recommended. There was also a small gym area. We would stay again. Laitha (sorry wrong spellings) and Sengena were very good.

The property has been beautifully laid out with good amenities. However, within a few minutes of being shown to our room we had a phone call to say that there was a problem with the aircon so were taken to another room. The bathroom ceiling in this room was open to the elements above the shower so we requested a different room. In this room, we didn't find out until the next day that the shower door was faulty and would only open 12 inches max. Also the hinge on the angle poise of the TV was broken. The restaurant has a set menu for the evening and did not cater well for vegetarians.

Hospitality is disgusting! Staff need training!
What a disappointment!! From the start of the booking it was just an unhappy place! Hotel is beautiful and the location is fabulous but the staff at reception and at the resturent need training how to treat customers. We had a late booking and the guy at the reception made it very difficult for us. Breakfast is very basic! I mean very very basic for a 4 star hotel. Who gave the rating!

We only stayed 2 nights, our first room was a good sized room, however the only window opened on to a small courtyard with no view whatsoever, just enough space for 2 day beds. We did write a review on our checking on our first day, which was very slow and disorganised this resulted in us being offered a better room with a fantastic view. They still have not fixed the problem with wood decking around pool which is now warped and splintered, with missing bits everywhere, would definitely not want a child to walk on this. Bar and restaurant staff were good and helpful.

Nice Hotel
Really nice hotel, we stayed during 'Wet' season, so it was pretty empty. only used it to be close to the airport for an early flight the next day. not as close to the airport as we had thought, and being on the sea-side of the lagoon makes driving to and from a hassle if there is traffic, especially by the local fish market. still a very nice hotel, friendly enough staff, and did the job.

Perfect stay
We booked for one night only for some rest after a long flight from London before a long car journey the following day. The hotel is luxurious, immaculately maintained and very comfortable. They organised our transfers from the airport and were extremely friendly and helpful. Our son loved the swimming pools and the buffet breakfast was lovely. We wished we had booked for longer.

This place has the ability to be a very charming resort. The hotel info said there were multiple restaurants and a wine bar at the resort, but there was only 1 restaurant. You could see the building where the rest were supposed to be but they were not being used. Our room was very nice, felt clean, aside from half the glasses being dirty every day and many bugs in the room. The pool and view were great, the decking surrounding the pool in need of repair. We did not see many other guests staying at the resort, but with a little fine tuning this place could be really great. The food was delicious.

Quiet and peaceful.
I was a bit hesitant to book this hotel as it’s only a few months old, but the early reviews were very positive and I wanted someplace quiet for a couple of days in between two busier stops on my holiday. I’m so glad I did! This hotel is super calm and peaceful. The buildings are low and spread out on the property, so there are a lot of open spaces. The pool is large and there is ample space to not have your lounger on top of your neighbor’s. Every single staff member was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Upon checking in (which was super speedy), I realized there was a problem with my bathroom window. As soon as I mentioned it to Anuradha (awesome manager!), she set out to find a solution. Turns out the window couldn’t be fixed quickly, so I was upgraded to an even bigger room before I could finish saying thank you. Two notes—as others have mentioned, definitely bring bug spray. You’re between two bodies of water after all! But it was also very breezy when I was here, so I managed to escape most of the mosquitoes.

Terrible service at hotel The food was cold and always delayed. We booked 1/2 board and both nights dinner was slow. Curtains in room don’t close and air con barely works Writing desk in room was so small TV remote could fit between chair and table

First trip to Sri Lanka.
I stayed at the Aria Lagoon from 19 December 2017 to 2 January 2018. A 14 night stay. in total. The hotel is new and in very good condition. I have traveled to many countries for over 30 years. I had never visited Sri Lanka but is was on my bucket list. Having viewed several hotels in Colombo and in Negombo I decided to take a chance on this new hotel and it paid off as one of my better decisions. The hotel is a few kilometres from the centre of Negombo. Tuc, Tuc motor bike taxi with built in passenger cabs were available for a small fee should a visit the busy town of Negombo be required. Tuc,Tuc are mostly what the locals use and for short distances they are a cheap personal transport. Another hotel is near the Aria Lagoon as is a few shops a short walk if required. The Aria staff were very warm welcoming helpful and polite. Also when I was out and about the Sri Lankan people were friendly. The food was very good ( no tummy problems ) and plenty of choice. My room had a 50 inch TV several channels in English. movie, news, discovery etc a small fridge and a comfortable bed. The room was serviced and cleaned every day. The bathroom had every thing required. There is a medium sized pool for adults and a shallow pool for kids. Sun loungers were available the attendant was quick to provide towels, bar staff came and asked if food or drinks were required. A modern gym is available and I used it most days. My stay was very pleasant. I would recommend Aria Lagoon hotel.
