Hotwl review

Hotel itself from the street is looking good. Rooms could do with an update. Staff is really friendly and helpfull. Next to the sea which is quite handy as only 2min walk and swimming in the sea. Swimming poole is clean. All good. Need to chech air con as some rooms it did not work. Overall good location

Bra hotell i Negambo by ved stranden. Hyggelig betjening. Hotellet trenger litt tlc og litt omsorg. Slik at det kan bli top klasse igjen. God pris.

Toll direkt am Strand gelegen mit sehr sauberem und gepflegtem Pool. Bei den Zimmern war es nicht überall so sauber, die Klimaanlage hat nicht einwandfrei funktioniert und es ist allgemein etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Allerdings super gelegen mit tollen Restaurant "Blue by you" nebenan.

Lovely location. Need to watch for beach parties!

Have stayed here on many previous occasions and keep coming back. This occasion was marred by music on the beach side of the property which did not stop until past midnight. This certainly disturbed our sleep before an early morning flight. Otherwise, recent renovations have improved bathrooms and AC. Decent breakfast. Lovely location on the beach with good pool. Still too expensive for category, yet we keep coming back as very near to airport and on the beach. Food outlets plentiful on the street outside. Did find staff rather sheepish compared to previous stays over the last decade. I believe that there has been a recent change in management and the adjoining Don's Beach Hotel has separated from the Golden Star Beach Hotel.

Detta hotell inget helt perfekt vid stranden. Men själva hotellet behöver fräschas upp i de flesta utrymmen. Balkonger går inte att sitta på eftersom AC aggregatet är placerad där. Restaurangen är rätt ok. Finns en 50 m bredvid Blue by you som var väldigt bra. Receptionen bör varna förstagångsbesökare om försäljarna på stranden, säljer varor till extrema överpriser mot affärerna och några vill sälja rundturer, fanns en person som pratade svenska men kändes väldigt opålitlig. Vi bokade då istället 2 dagar till Mirissa med Fernando och hans bror Fernando, väldigt trevliga och bra på engelska.

Bra service, bra frukost! Låg precis vid stranden och fanns mycket annat omkring. Receptionen va väldigt hjälpsam. En av de bättre hotellen i sin prisklass!

Well positioned Hotel, relatively close to the airport, tour guides, shops, and restaurants. Right on the beach. Room cleaning staff, food preparation and service staff were great, reception staff were not so great - not knowing much or appearing distracted. All most all staff eager to help. My room was quiet, with thick walls, ceiling and floors. Air-conditioner essential for comfort and worked well as well as being quiet. Room clean but a little bit dated, bathroom big with marble appearance tiles. Pool was popular for others, the water appeared green to me. Hawkers selling their wares on the beach were annoying, and security didn't do much to stop them. Took about three occasions saying "No thank you" before they would leave you alone.

Silver star for the Golden Star Beach Hotel.

The hotel was fair for the price & is very close to the beach. It is not a luxury hotel by any stretch, however, it is appealing from the outside and is of a fair condition inside. Good service, however we struggled to find the hotel as the sign that reads ‘Golden Star Beach Hotel’ is engraved into a rock that is not illuminated, so we actually drove past the hotel thinking it was a different hotel.

Sand, sea and location

I have stayed here on many occasions over the years and am always taken by the tranquil location/environment beside the sea yet with multiple eateries in the near locality. Access to the airport is easy as is a trip by bus to the city of colombo. No issues with the hotel itself either. However the hotel used to offer free WiFi throughout but this has now stopped. Breakfast was fine but outside breakfast, food is expensive for the category of hotel.

hôtel ancien non entretenu

on nous a proposé une chambre sans aucune fenêtre, pas content, on a refusé. 2ème chambre proposée avec une petite fenêtre à l'entrée donnant sur un mur: on a refusé. 3ème chambre mieux avec grande fenêtre + clim et ventillo mais douche qui ne fonctionne pas (réparée après 3 jours d'attente !!!) et literie ancienne. Hôtel de 1988 non entretenu: 50% des transats sont cassés. on leur a demandé, la veille de partir, de réserver un transport pour l'aéroport, ils ont confirmé que c'était fait mais le lendemain après une heure d'attente pas de taxi. on a prix un Tuc-tuc et on est arrivé 1/4 heure avant la fermeture de l'enregistrement pour notre avion, ouf... A ne pas y revenir.

Rats in the room, bad really slow service & we got sick of the food, but the staff didn't seem to care. It was mild in the room behind the paintings hanging on the wall. So many minus ---- stayed here before, but this is the last time...

Bad and crumbling hotel near the beach

Despite the negative reports I booked this hotel. It turns out the negative reports are all true. This hotel needs to be avoided along with a stack of other hotels in the negombo area. They are just interested in taking your money there is no after sales support. This hotels idea of air conditioning is simply having a air conditioner it does not matter if it does not work. If you book this hotel you do yourself in

Not worth it

Old & rundown with dodgy plumbing, poor air conditioning, no mini bar/fridge as stated, got told at 7 pm at the restaurant hotel to pick something other than chicken curry as it would take too long. As it was i was the only customer & it took 30 mins for my bland chicken noodles. My room had no screen in the bathroom so mosquitoes were getting in. Staff don't pass on information to other staff. Was told i could stay in the room then told i had to move the next day. Next time i'll stay elsewhere.. only stayed here because Intrepid tour starts here. Shocking choice for intrepid considering what they charge for the tour. Only good things were the pool and the location on the beach.

2-2,5 stjernes hotell ved stranden.

Ikke et 3 stjernes hotell, toppen 2. Dusj fungerte ikke, lite vann og ikke oppheng. Elendig dørlås. Mye moskito p.g.a. Utette dører og ventiler. Håndklær manglet 15 av 19 dager, måtte mase mange ganger før vi fikk enkelte dager. Bråkete aircondision. Bra frokost.

Relaxed stay

Great helpful staff. Prompt responses to emails before arrival and airport transfer excellent. My room was perfect as view of beach and comfortable setting. Breakfast staff and selection great. Excellent good value stay. Thank you

空港からホテルまでタクシーで20分〜30分。夜、周辺は真っ暗です。 スタッフの対応も良く、ホテルは綺麗で清潔でした。ホテル前は海が広がり、お天気がよいと、ビーチでのんびり、リラックスできます。残念なのはなぜか、 テレビがつかなかった。Wi-Fiは弱いです〜(*_*)
