"The room had many problems. Too dark, no adequate lighting. No ceiling lights. Bathtub not draining; Water not changing from tub to shower, Toilet paper holder broken. Electric sockets worn out and cannot hold any plug ins. The whole place needs updating and re-working."

"Worst hotel stay ever … you can skip this one. A few bright notes: evening receptionist was accommodating and a pleasure to work with; external grounds were immaculate with plenty of parking; entrance lobby was clean and inviting. The three rooms I looked at were clean but smelled funky. All had interior damage. (One had blood spatter on the pulldown shade!) The third room (cleanest smell) had a damaged shower curtain rod, no official room label (hand-written on the wall) and the door didn’t close properly (One had to push it shut!) On the second/third floors, the smell of cigarettes and smoked meth emanating from several rooms, with uncollected trash left outside individual doors. I took a shower and slept in my vehicle."

"We chose this extraordinary vintage house for a rare week-long family reunion. We were not disappointed! The house has everything. The private setting was superb. There are 3 porches where we could gather at various times throughout the day every day. The kitchen seemed to have everything we needed and the grand dining room was just that–grand. It was difficult to even put to use the other fine rooms like the libraries, music room, and the large living room. There are 4 very large and accommodating bedrooms and huge beautifully paneled hallways/foyers on both floors that offer yet more gathering places. It is hard to describe adequately the welcoming ambiance of this nearly 150 year old house that obviously has had a well-lived life as a multiple generation family home. After a day of activities and sightseeing it was a splendid place to return to and recharge. This sense of hospitality was exemplified by the host who has lived in the home for many years and provided us with an abundant supply of food and drink on arrival. Throughout our stay he or his staff were readily accessible.Was the house perfect? We had some issues with the plumbing–hardly surprising in a house of this age but we were able to work around them without adversity affecting our overall stay. The house is so charming and engaging it is easy to accept its few limitations. In sum, I cannot imagine that we could have found a better placeto renew and renergize our family relationships."

"Really deserves 2.5 stars. Staff was pleasant and professional. Outside and room are a bit run down; but mostly clean. Room had a fridge and microwave but spotty internet and hot water with poor water pressure. Only 1 cup and 1 bar of soap for amenities. Not sure if there were other guests as it seemed most everyone there lived in the rooms, including the strong smell of pot in the morning. Place seemed safe enough though. I’d give it 2 stars but staff brought it up a bit. Ok for the night; but a bit overpriced and better places and values closer to Highland Falls. I would not stay again."
