Staff were good and kind. Could do with some touch ups here, there, repaint in hallways and carpet cleaned. Shower pressure was great. Overall ok for a overnight stay and price.

We stayed in the basic room. It was very small but adequate. The room was clean, the bed was firm and the walls are nit sound proofed in any way. Having stayed in many similar hotels in Taupo, the standard of the Lakefront is comparable with them. It was great to be relatively close to town.

This place is getting old and would be more than happy if Expedia start mentioning age of the hotel and any renovations were done. Rooms are old.

Room although clean was sparsely equipped: no where to hang clothes. No light switches near bed. Had to fumble to find bed in dark after switching off light. Soap dispensers in bathroom empty. TV reception very poor with constant picture and sound failure. Grounds around hotel were extremely overgrown and unkempt. Derelict buildings scattered around. Needs a huge renovation project.

The staff were very nice and even gave me a trail recommendation given we could not do the alpine crossing as planned that day!
