Deep Roots Retreat Historic Kingston Springs Home Pets Welcome Near Nashville
Deep Roots Retreat is a beautifully restored historic home in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, just 25 minutes from Nashville. Originally the 1900 two room Cedar Hill School, this pet friendly retreat blends small town charm with modern comforts like WiFi, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and peaceful outdoor space. Set in a quiet rural setting near the Harpeth River and local hiking, this home is perfect for couples, families, or friends looking for a relaxing getaway close to nature while still being an easy drive to Nashville dining and music. Deep Roots has been part of our family for five generations. The walls were crafted by my grandfather, and the custom cabinets and shelving still reflect his workmanship today. Each room carries stories of laughter, celebrations, and everyday life. Granny’s legacy lives on in the kitchen where her biscuit cutters still hang. More than a place to stay, Deep Roots Retreat invites you to slow down, settle in, and be part of something that has stood the test of time.

The hosts thought of everything! The home was so cozy and warm (a warmth that comes from the heart). The hosts have created a stunning retreat and I am already looking ahead to my next stay at their lovely home.
This is such a quaint white farm house in a beautiful location. The check-in process was so easy, and we would highly recommend this house to anyone who enjoys small town charm.
Great country home close to State park/hiking trails . Real Tennessee country feel just minutes from groceries and fast food in nearby town. Really enjoyed our family vacation. Was a great rental/experience.
Kept finding ourselves saying, "What a nice touch!" regarding how the house was set up for us. Great location for proximity to hiking, outdoor activities, and still close to Nashville. Great visit!
We had a wonderful stay at Deep Roots Retreat. This is a wonderfully decorated home with all the conveniences. Especially loved the coffee bar. The location is ideal, close to hiking trails and beautifully situated in the Tennessee hill country. I highly recommend this property.
We visited for the weekend to celebrate mine and my sister’s birthday. We enjoyed being able to just relax and spend time together. Beautiful home, looks like lots of memories have been made there over the years. We’re already wanting to go back in cooler weather!
Close enough to the action in Nashville, yet far enough away to feel like a vacation from all the noise. The host was wonderful and available whenever needed. The restaurant and attraction recommendations provided were top notch! This the cutest little town ❤️!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely farmhouse! It was quiet and peaceful with no traffic on the road. The beds were very comfortable and the home was beautifully decorated, cozy, and the perfect place to stay while in the Nashville area for a few days. Close to a state park and the Harpeth River and not far from restaurants and shops in the Bellevue area. Host was very responsive with great communication. We felt right at home. Highly recommend!
Weekend Stay for my daughters baby shower.
The house was perfect! I love a VRBO host that has easy check-in / out. The House was beautiful well maintained and was well stocked. I highly recommend. Very remote and super quiet but still close to Nashville.
Talk about getting away from it all….this charming 2 bedroom house was on a road all by itself out in the middle of nowhere. It was so quiet and tranquil and felt like coming home. Our hosts left us farm fresh eggs, and a Happy Anniversary cake since we were there celebrating our anniversary. They were prompt in responding to any queries we had. Overall we highly recommend.
We really enjoyed staying at this home while visiting with our daughter at college it was adorable and very welcoming. We definitely appreciated the coffee, snacks and fresh eggs after our long drive. I especially enjoyed hanging out on the porch having coffee in the morning with the resident kitty. ❤️ Thanks for sharing your home with us!
We absolutely love this property! The house is so warm and welcoming starting with the lush vegetation, beautiful landscaping, and big front porch! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, kitchen is great, sun room was a lovely addition, and the living room was cozy including board games for all ages. My favorite part was the proximity to trails and the Harpeth river. Lots of safe walking options and the bird feeders brought a constant flow of vibrant birds to admire. I loved how private and safe it was.
We had a great extended weekend at Deep Roots. We relaxed over the weekend, did a little hiking, sat around the fire, and played games. Monday and Tuesday we sent into the city to see museums and eat delicious food. Recommend the Parthenon and centennial park. First museum was great. Johnny Cash museum was amazing. The Harpeth River trails were beautiful and well maintained. Ten Star weekend!!
We had a wonderful time this weekend just outside of Nashville. It was quiet and relaxing. Our favorite thing to do was sit on the covered porch and watch the WWE exhibition the hummingbirds were performing. We were squarely aligned with the beefy red throated underdog who fearlessly took on 5 other challengers at one time. Man what a fight.
(No hummingbirds were harmed)
Really enjoyed this Beautiful renovated old farm house tucked away in the woods. There were deer around and it was nice to just sit there and relax and watch the hummingbird on the front porch. Beds were comfortable and had AC in there. Every room had a TV which was great there's been other places we stayed in that only had a TV in the main room and that was it. We slept great in there and it was so peaceful. It's been beautifuly renovated and the bathroom was nice how it's had everything updated. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We came to stay to be near by our family I definitely recommend this one and would love to stay here again! Thank you!!
The Deep Roots house is a great place to get away! Every day we found another supprise thing that made us love the house and location more. It is on a very private road, so private that our puppy barked like crazy at the one and only car that drove by. You feel like you have the entire mountain to yourself! There are great short hiking trails LITERALLY across the street and longer trails a short country drive away. Nashville was an easy drive, and the small town Main St for food in Kingston Springs. The host was excellent with communication and you can truly sense the pride she takes in her family home.
We bought our family tickets to a concert in Nashville and needed a place for all of us and 2 pets. The place was a little off the beaten path, but I was aware when booking and we loved having the peaceful location. It is also closer than you would think to some really good restaurants and shopping. We were only able to stay a couple nights and a big part of it was away from the house due to the concert and some other site seeing. We would have loved so much to have more time to spend in the house though. It was very welcoming and had plenty of room for us. My two younger kids spent all the time they could in the sunroom. Alicia responded quickly to an inquiry we had and I think she had about everything you may ever forget to bring. The “coffee counter” was a great touch for us! We would absolutely book this place again.
Wonderful owners, location, beauty! Issues with heat
These are the most responsive owners I've ever stayed with! The farmhouse is lovely, old, and in a beautiful natural area, especially if you want to spend time at Harpeth River State Park. The stars are amazing, and the park is wonderful. We are city folk, so portable radiators as the only source of heat in the bedrooms were new to us. One stopped working, twice a fuse blew, and I wonder if the gas fireplace in the living room shouldn't perhaps have a screen in front of it. But every single time we had any issue, the family was there within minutes! It's an historic building with much to recommend a stay there.
